  1. I enjoyed the bartering on Revolutionary Avenue. It was a fun experience and a good place to pick up trinkets for home.
  2. To ensure I get enough protein every day, I drink a Muscle Milk whey protein powder milkshake every morning. I use 1/2 cup soy milk and 2 scoops of protien powder with 1/4 of a package of sugar free jello. I blend it in my bullet. This gives me 1/2 of the protein I need to have every day and only uses a third of my calories. Plus I am full until a late lunch. I have given this to my husband for his protein as well and it definitely has given him more energy as he works nights and drags through the week.
  3. The care coordinators at OCC are awesome with giving you a list of suggested doctors for followup in your area. They do not do recommendations but do maintain a list of doctors they know will help us OCC clients. I went to Dr Riccardi in Las Vegas and cannot say enough good things. (Plus it was fun to go see Vegas, I hadn't been in years). I chose that location as you can usually find good airfare to Vegas from almost anywhere. Plus he was the most reasonable price wise that I found. Good luck
  4. Lindsay - great list thanks for posting. Also, if you call the OCC they will tell you about doctors they are aware of that will provide fills for TJ patients. When I called they gave me 3 different doctors in Las Vegas to research. I chose Dr. Riccardi, but Dr Dominick, who is on the list Lindsay provided was also on the roster the OCC gave me.
  5. I also have keloid skin and unfortunately have found nothing that really helps. My scars fade after about 10 years, at least the color fades to almost skin tone and they flatten out a bit. Sorry for no solutions from this side.
  6. I flew down to Las Vegas and went to Dr. Riccardi. He was truly awesome, very reasonable and it was fun to be in Vegas. I thought that it was a mini vacation and flights and hotels are all reasonable to "Sin City". The major downside was the cab fare to the docs office from the strip $30.
  7. they had a fire about a year ago and closed their doors. I have not seen that they have reopened anywhere.
  8. Glad it was all you wanted and hoped it to be. The old timers(past WLS) knew it would be but experiencing yourself is the only way to truly understand how great the OCC and its staff really are.
  9. Absolutely. I actually talked to the fill doctor I went to a couple of weeks ago about this as he does the surgeries as well and he said that it was completely normally and if it didn't do that occasionally it was more of a concern.
  10. The breakfast bites were my primary start at breakfast when I first got to solid foods. It allows you to premake a bunch of breakfasts and you can freeze them. Or if you have others in your family, they are something that anyone can enjoy, they will just need more. Basically they are mini quiches without the pastry.
  11. Have you tried different lettuces. I can't do some of them but romaine works just fine. How knows LOL
  12. The post op diet was pretty easy to follow. I was determined to follow program. The only thing that I ended up craving was liquid that wasn't sweet. Broths seemed extremely salty so they did not work either. Someone suggested trying hot and sour soup strained so just the broth. That worked. Hope this helps
  13. What is tolerable clearly varies with each individual. What I used was the website "World according to eggface" and it helped me tremendously to find new recipes and meal ideas.
