  1. I land in San Diego at 10am and my fill is scheduled for 1030. :-? Crazy Huh? Well that's when Carolyn scheduled me!! If you guys are planning on going shopping or doing something fun I would LOVE to tag along!! :-h
  2. I can't believe I'm actually leaving tomorrow for my 1st fill!!! I was sitting at work making my list of crap I needn't forget and it just donned on me...HOLY sh*t I'm scared of needles!! Oh well, all the bandsters that have posted make me a little more relaxed. BIG thanks for Mamamichelle for all your posts and the little extras to make chickens like me feel better. Like I said before, I don't always post (3 kids, a HUSBAND, and a job I work 40-80 hours at a week, big house no housekeeper.....) I look forward to reading everyones posts EVERYDAY! Ladies we are all beautiful, now everyone will finally see it. Hooray for the band!! =D> Oh yeah, who else will be there tomorrow? I want to go shopping but not alone. Anyone for some retail therapy?!?
  3. Hello all, :-h my name is Amber & I was banded on March 24th (day after my 30th birthday) at the OCC. I live outside Wellington Colorado on 10 acres out in the middle of no where with a wonderfull wiew of the Rocky Mountains. I am originally from North Dakota where I grew up on 37,000 acres. I spent my days helping out on the ranching/farming operation with my family, riding horse, roping & rodeoing. With all this activity I didn't get REALLY heavy until after I started working ALOT, riding less & had a baby. Well long story short, I got fat. ( I've tried all diets with little success. I got married 6/9/07 and with Jenny Craigs help lost about 25 pounds in 6 months. After the wedding, I stopped Jenny and gained most of my weight back. SO with my husband and best friend (also a bandster) support I'm "with the band." I paid for it out of my pocket so it has been a HUGE investment to my health. I decided I wanted to beat the problems associated with being obese. It is truly the best decision I've ever made. I know I have to work for the results, but with the help of the band I know I can finally succeed! I have to stepsons ages 14 & 10 who live with us 100 percent of the time, & my wonderful daughter who just turned 3. My husband is fantastic. He said he loves me no matter what but I don't love myself when I look in the mirror & it has taken a toll on my personallity, self esteem & ME. I work in a mans world in the oil & gas industry as an operator in a Natural gas plant. (like a power plant or refinery but natural gas plant) I am the only girl operator which is great. I work with terrific guys who treat me like family & look out for me. I look forward to my future success & for all your future successes...WE CAN DO THIS!! Lets keep our chins up (no matter how many there are LOL) & be proud we took the first step. WE are our best cheerleaders!!! > > Godspeed, Amber
  4. Hello Ladies! :-h It's been awhile since my last post but I look forward to logging on everyday to see how everyone is. This forum has been a saving grace for me!! You guys are fantastic!! I made my first fill appointment for May 6th (banded on 3/24 with Mindy, Kari, Evette, Bobbie, Ramona...). I'm very excited and a little nervous. I got the "package" and will be going to this appointment by myself. Can't wait! Let the real weight loss begin. Right now I'm going on sheer will power which I'm surprised I even have. Maybe I shoulda dug a little deeper for it in the first place!! At any rate, just wanted to check in and be "seen" again!! I'm so glad I found this support group and all of you WONDERFUL gals. By the way, I read a couple of you are going to be filled on May 6th as well and would love to meet up with you for retail therapy! Amber
  5. Good morning ladies!! :-h I was just wondering how all you ladies are feeling? Kari, Ramona, Mindy, Evette, Bobbi,....Officially we can eat "real" food today, though I'm sure I don't have to remind anyone. I've been counting the days down! As of yesterday I've lost 18 pounds =D> and was able to go through my "fat stage" clothes and purge my closet!!! I have a big tub of clothes in various sizes all the way down to size 7 that I've worn throughout the years so I don't have to buy alot except a treat here or there. My "treats" used to be food related so I've had to be creative. I hope everyone is feeling good. I so enjoy reading everyones stories, trials, and tribulations! This forum is a lifesaver!! Love you all!!! >
  6. Thornton is the closest fill center to me as well (well that uses floro anyway-Cheyenne is actually the closest) I too am interested in anyones experience there. I am planning on having my first fill back at the OCC in May, but then will probably use the Thornton center. Where are you from? I'm North of Fort Collins.
  7. Hi Mindy!! I too am going to OCC for my first fill. I have yet to schedule a date but DH & I will be going to Oceanside for a week starting the 16th. I am hoping to do it then. I am trying to talk him into letting me go the week before but don't know if he'll go for it (plane ticket expense!!) If I do go the week earlier I would definately share a room with you since we did experience the "paper Panties" together!! Hope to hear from you soon. Amber
  8. I had the Zoom whitening at 9am the morning after my surgery. My teeth were a little sensitive the rest of the day and into the next day but now they are fine. I really noticed and the more I brush with Sensodyne whitening toothpaste my teeth are actually getting a little whiter. The only problem I had is the Zoom light thing caused a lot of discomfort on my gums. The dentist just lifted it away a little and that helped. It didn't make me sick to my stomach or anything like I had worried about. Hope that helps.
  9. Does this special have an "expiration" date? I tried to call and I left a message but thought maybe you would answer faster. That would be ahuge savings for me!! Thanks in advance for any info!
  10. I'm planning on going back to the OCC for my 1st fill the week of May 16-23ish. I will be in Oceanside that week anyway (time share there) so if anyone else needs a ride, we rent a car for transportation anyway. I'm only concerned about getting back across the border. Does anyone else know if it's the same process-except you drive and not walk?? We don't have passports but you don't need one til after June 1st. Thanks Amber
  11. Thank you so much for all the advice. Today I nuked some Campbell's fiesta nacho cheese soup and then strained all the peppers out as to not have any chunks and I feel like I came back from the buffet!! I'm making chili tonight (kidney beans, hamburger tomato sauce that kind of chili) do you think if I put it my magic bullet and made it really runny is that fine? No chunks but some consistency?!? Any suggestions? :-?
  12. I was banded on 3-24 by Dr Ortiz and I haven't felt any restriction at all! I have been hungry the entire time. Not head hunger either as I have been keeping myself VERY busy trying not to think about it. I am to the creamy soup stage (yesterday was the start of week 2) but I can't seem to get past the "rumbly in my tumbly" stage. I know it isn't forever and soon I'll be able to have texture but.....(screaming in my head). ( I have a friend who was banded a little over a year ago and she said she was hungry but the results are worth it. I was worrying that maybe the Dr cut me open and forgot to band me?!?! Please help me with any suggestions, tell me to cowboy up, something........I'm Gagging down high protein drinks (EAS, Slimfast Optima, Muscle Milk or whatever it's called, K2O protein water (well I like that)) If there are some other tricks from the veterans I beg of you, PLEASE help before I eat my young LOL!!!! ( ( (
  13. Well since all the 3-24 bandsters have posted I figured I should too!! I arrived in San Diego around 8:30pm and was met by someone other than Fransico or Rene and was a complete accident I even found him. He had a piece of paper with a hand written (VERY lightly)"Dr. Ortiz". We had to wait for another passenger which I assumed was another patient...to my disappointment he was not, but just some man from Boston who was there for business and just staying at the Lucerna. He turned out to be friendly but completly annoying! I went by myself so this part of the trip was by far the worst. I was so scared I got in the wrong van or something but thank goodness that part turned out ok! We arrived at the Lucerna and I checked in. The bellman took me to my room turned on my tv, the lights and I was truly amazed! Since the Holiday Inn is about the nicest hotel I've been in imagine my surprise. I immediatly open the curtains and checked out the view from my balcony. WOW I took some great pictures from there! I looked at the room service menu since I hadn't had anything to eat since that morning, didn't know the peso ratio so I ate a banana!! Needless to say I was starving the next day because I had been in "fasting" mode for awhile!! The next morning I waited with the other lovely ladies awaiting the arrival of Mrs. Ortiz. She had a small car so could only take 4 at a time. I was in the 2nd group. The OCC is just like the web site portrays. Very clean, nice, & professional. Filled out paperwork and visited with the other patients while waiting for our turn to see have the dental check, ekg, etc...Then we got to go our rooms. I was in #4. Got my gown and the great paper panties (en experience all its own!!) and got the stockings on. While I was waiting for my turn Mindy's mom came and sat with me, then Steph, Kari's friend, came and watched some TV with me. If there was any doubt about traveling by myself it fizzled that morning!! Everyone in the group was fantastic and I didn't feel by myself or scared once I gat there!! Then Dr Ortiz came in to chat. The best thing about the conversation was when he told me how guys differ from gals when being banded. He said guys just fart if they have to. Well so do I! I use discretion when needed but better out then in!! Well I don't remember much about going into the OR. They wheel you in and you get on the table and I think I took my own gown off and I might remember talking to the anestesiologist...who knows. those guys are all so good looking I may have proposed to 1 or many, I couldn't tell you!!! Before I knew it I was back in my room, then walking the halls...soon I was having popsicles and visiting with Mindy, Evettes mom & boyfriend. I think I slept and walked the rest of the day. The next morning one of the Drs came to talk to me (I don't remember which one) I had some broth, got dressed and went out to the waiting room where the tuesday bandsters were waiting. I talked to them and one women wanted to see my incisions so I showed them all! Having kids in my opinion equals no modesty at all!! I waited a few more minutes and then went back to the dentists office and had my teeth Zoom whitened. Then it was back to the hotel to shower and then SHOPPING...which wasn't bad at all. All the walking did me great. Thanks again to Kari for letting me have one of her protein water packets. Note to self-don't rely on husband to put your beverage supplies in your suitcase even after you've placed it in his hand. It was on the bathroom counter when I got home...I didn't even ask!! Then it was sitting by the pool, walked to the pharmacy to get some flavored water & a popsicle, checked my email in the lobby, talked with the ladies, then just hung out. Next day I met the driver in the lobby at 5:30am Mexico time and off the the airport. I was REALLY nervous about getting through the border on time but it wasn't bad at all. I showed the guy my drivers license and birth certificate. I was expecting him to say something like what were you here for, what did you buy he just looked at me and said "GO" so I did, quickly!! I made it to the airport safe and sound. flew back to Denver and was met at the gate by my hubby who had a dozen peach roses for me. I wasn't so upset about the beverage incident after that. All in all it was a fantastic trip and I would change my decision!
  14. WOOHOO I leave tomorrow too!!! My plane leaves Denver at 6:15PM and I couldn't be more excited. Yesterday I put in a 14 hour day, I'm working today (hopefully with NO over time), and work tomorrow until 2pm-then it's off to the big city to the airport for me. This morning I woke up with a sore throat and a headache that's about to kill me and can't take anything for it... ( I absolutely can't wait to get there and begin living my life again!!! This forum is awesome. Thanks for everyones problems, solutions, questions, answers, b*tches, etc!! Made my life less stressful the last few weeks. Can't wait to meet all the Easter arrivers!!! See ya on the flip side with a smaller a** soon!! :-h
  15. OK so yesterday when I said it would be $175 with the coupon I was "lying" I called today and scheduled my appointment for the day after my surgery and the $275 is the "sale" price....still incredibly cheaper than anywhere I've called here in Colorado! What the hell is a little belly ache for pretty teeth lol!!
