I am married, have been for 15 years, and I have three beautiful children.
I love going to yard sales, and thrift stores.I collect old
enameled cast iron pots, as well as the Le creuset pots. I think I have somewhat of an addiction.
I chose papaya as my user name, because the shape of a papaya is how I felt at my highest weight(245)

1. I too was having the same issue as you. I had to go back to OCC and get my band ckecked out. Dr. So discovered I had a slight slippage of my band. He did a complete unfil, and that took care of the problem. The funny thing is that I was losing weight, and wasn't having any issues with food getting stuck, or sliming. Just that horrible night regurgitation(food coming up, and burning like crazy). I also had that pain in my upper back. I hope you are able to get your band checked out.
2. I hope it's not too late to ask. vero_nica_0@yahoo.com
3. I would suggest you have a complete unfil. You don't want to run the chance of a slip or enlarged pouch. Especially since you are doing a blind unfill, and there is no way of telling how swollen you are. I was too tight for a couple of days, and I went in to OCC hoping for a slight fill but needed to get a complete unfil. Surprisingly I didn't gain weight during that time. Good luck!
4. Have someone or yourself tap on your tummy, and back. This really helps. This is sopposed to break up the gas bubbles. It has always worked for me.
5. Praying for you! And sending you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Did you take a picture of yourself today? Are you able to drink any teas. Chamomille tea is a good tea for the nerves, and it loosenes you up a bit.
6. I take your response is for me. I know you probably don't mean it in a bad way, but it certainly made my stomache ache. For starters all the calories that I consume are good calories. Gone are the days when eating out five days a week was a normal thing for me to do. I began tracking my daily caloric intac on livestrong.com. At 1200 calories I felt like I was forcing my self to get in the proposed calories needed. So yes I know that I have beeen brutaly honest with myself, and everybody else that knows I was banded, including all of the members on this site. I am so lucky to have a caring and understanding husband. He sees how I have struggled this past year. I was hyped about all the weight that I was going to lose, and so was he. He always tells me to be patient that eventually it will happen for me. So I think that if i wasn't doing my part, he would definately open my eyes about it. So yes I do feel bad about your comment. I do have a thyroid problem. It had to be removed about five years ago. My endo doctor says I shouldn't blame my medical condition for not losing weight. I was pretty upset at her, because she said I should of have gastric bypass instead, and she said some bad stuff about the lapband procedure. I have been vigouresly working out since before bieng banded. Had to stop treadmill do to pain in my knees, but went out and bought a recumbent bike, as I don't want to stop excersising . All of my foods are home cooked meals, and I don't have the pleasure of personaly knowing Ben & Jerrys. And I said that I am losing weight on 600 calories a day. I think that I may really be a medical anomoly!
7. I was banded in June of 08, and have lost 31lbs. I too feel discouraged. I know that I am following the guidlines to bieng banded, so I can't put the blame on myself. I was doing so much on the treadmill that my knees started to hurt. Now it's been about a month without going on the treadmill. My knees hurt just from sitting down. Anyway this past month I got a very tight fill, and I lost 14 lbs in three weeks. I've come to realize that my body needs very little calories to lose weight. I tried 1200 calories, but didn't lose weight, and then I tried 1000 that didn't work, and then I tried 800 calories, and that too didn't work. Now with this fill I take a couple of bites of something and feel full. I know I don't come close to even 600 calories a day. What keeps me going and not give up is that I havn't gained the weight back. I do wish my weight loss was more significant, but unfortunartely for some of us the road to weight loss is slow. So anyone reading this don't give up!
8. Thanks guys for the help. Dolittle, thanks for the website. Lea32 good luck on your upcoming surgery. I live only 25 minutes from L.A. with no traffic. I will aim to go there this Friday. But today I loosened up a bit. So I will see where I am at by Friday, because maybe I wont need an unfill. I am finally down to 193 after bieng stuck between 198-205 for 9 months. IrishRN If I do stay loose I will go to my local post office, and start the process for the passport. Again many thanks for the advice.
9. Hi, I need to go to OCC and get an unfill. Had a fill almost a month ago, and it seems to be a little on the tight side. I take two bites of something and I feel very full, and have to take small sips of anything liquid. My problem is that I don't have a passport. I just have my drivers license, and my natrualization certificate. Someone told me that the border agents are bieng a little lax on the requirements for a passport, and that they will let you cross. If anyone knows what can happen please let me know. Thanks, V
10. You look amazing! And yes that is very happy news And I too can relate. I have missed so many of my kids functions at school, because of my weight. I would always obsess as to what I could wear that would hide the fat. But now that I have lost weight I have made it a point to attend as many functions as possible. I will be volunteering all day next Monday for the end of school year picnic.
11. I have driven straight to the border several times, and have always taken the yellow cabs. On two occasions the driver did not know how to get there. I kind of remembered where it was at, and had to tell them how to get there.
12. I too cant get my body to go down below 200. I had surgery one month before you, and have almost the same stats as you. So I definately feel your frustration. I AM drinking my water, and walking at least 5 miles on treadmil every day and of course following all of the lap band rules. I thought after getting my third fill I would see some weight loss, but haven't!. I know that the lap band is a tool, but this tool just doesn't want to give some of us a break. At this point this tool is just keeping me from giving up. So hang in there my friend.
13. mona-chamille is RIGHT! You have to sip, sip as much as you can. I was feeling horrible after my surgery. I decided to call my doctor, and he said I should be drinking water, because I was de-hydrated. And I felt better! The gassy pains will take some time to go away. In the meantime also try to walk, and get some rest. Hope you feel better soon. >
14. I can totally relate to your situation. I too have three kids, and all by c-section. And my highest weight ever was 245 lbs. You are so right about the c-section and tummy thing(can't waite for tummy tuck!) I too have been struggling with no weight loss for sometime now(too embarassed to say how long). But at least I know that I am a healthier and happier person now. Congrats for hanging in there! =D>
15. I had both my fills at OCC, and left that same day. I think that even though you are on liquids, you would kind of get an idea if you are too tight. Hope this helps.
