BAND TO SLEEVE REVISION QUESTION

Recommended Posts

I AM HAVING A BAND TO SLEEVE REVISION NEXT MONTH. I WAS PLANNING ON HAVING MY BAND REMOVED. A QUESTION WAS JUST BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. DO I HAVE TO HAVE THE BAND REMOVED DURING THE REVISION? MY AUNT ALSO HAS A BAND AND TOLD ME SHE KNOWS SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE BAND AND SLEEVE. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY INSIGHT ON THIS?

I have heard of people having both. I guess why are you getting your band removed in the first place? I would also say depending on how everything looks it might have to be removed.

THANKS I APPRECIATE THE RESPONSE. I SPOKE TO A LOCAL DR THAT SAID HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT. I AM ONLY TAKING THE BAND OUT BECAUSE IT JUST HASN'T WORKED FOR ME. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO FIND MY SWEET SPOT SO I JUST KEPT IT TOO TIGHT WHICH WAS MISERABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE SLEEVE I DECIDED IT WAS JUST SOMETHING I WANTED INSTEAD.

MY AUNT WAS THE ONE THAT BROUGHT UP KEEPING THE BAND ALSO. SHE JUST THOUGHT SINCE I PAID FOR IT ANT IT WASN'T BOTHERING ME WHY COULDN'T I KEEP IT OPEN. THEN IF MY SLEEVE EVER STRECHED I COULD ALWAYS HAVE IT FILLED. IM NOT SURE IF THAT IS SOMETHING I WOULD WANT TO DO OR NOT EVEN IF IT WAS POSSIBLE.

I know from in the past on the board people had to have them remove due to issues or miss use scaring damage to the area of stomach at band placement. This is something you could email and talk the OCC about but in the end they really wont know till looking inside. I don't know if you would want to leave it in as it could cause you problems later on resulting in yet another surgery.
