Lots of Questions!!! Surgery in less that 4 weeks!

I am scheduled to have my surgery on the 26th. A little nervous and a little excited! I am frutrated in my pre-op weight loss journey. I had lost 5 of the needed 10 pounds, but then today I got on the scale and I gained a pound since yesterday. I always weigh first thing in the morning. I was so careful yesterday about the water, tea I am supposed to drink and careful on what I ate. And I gained a pound. My husband and 2 teenage daughters are coming with me and we are planning on staying in TJ for a total of 5 days then going to LA to see family. I have heard that I will be feeling great and will have no issue really of getting around...just a little tired. Then I hear of others who feel horrible for a week or two, throwing up, gas, and pain. Any comments? Are we supposed to bring our Vitaleph vitamins with us? Trying to figure out what all supplement and shake wise to bring. I am still going to be on vacation for 5 days before returning home so not sure what food wise I need to do/bring. Has anyone else brought more than their companion to the Marriot? What did they charge you for them per night? Is the food expensive there at the hotel? I was told there are restaurants close to the hotel, (like the types we have in the US), but have been told to not drink the water and to be careful about where you eat. Last thing I want is for my family to get sick. Any thoughts? Anyone else scheduled for the 26th? Would like to meet you as we start our journey!

A lot of patients worry about the pre-surgery weight loss. You need to relax and take a deep breath. You'll do fine if you follow the diet as much as possible and EXERCISE!

The hotel is ok, food is good, prices are comparable to other large hotels. There's a Walmart a couple blocks South of the Marriott, you can buy water and other things. There's a McDonalds and Carl jrs a couple blocks North of the hotel.

Questions about companions staying with you at the Marriott can be answered by Gloria at the OCC.

As far as how you will feel post-surgery is a individual thing. I felt really good. I even walked 5 miles the next day. Easy surgery for me.

You would be fine to come alone. Your in good hands if your having your surgery at the OCC. Plus you'll meet several other patients at the OCC the same day as your surgery. You'll travel in a group to the hotel for recovery, meet others who had or will be having surgery. It's kind of like you'll be surrounded by OCC patients.

How long in total is a expected stay after sugery??

The OCC has a post op schedule they follow. Your OCC surgery coordinator should be able to answer all your questions. I personally can't answer that question, but I can guess, I''m trying to remember mine, I'm thinking it was 3 days after surgery your on the way home.  Call 1-866-893-8005 and talk to an OCC surgery coordinator.

Do you have to have a companion.   Can you get the surgery if you come alone?

Yes, you can come alone. The OCC is with you all the way. A lot of patients come alone and there's never been any issues that I've heard of.
