Hi everyone. I am 52 years old and have been overweight my entire life. Researching the Lap Band surgery has given me hope that my last years will better than my first.
I am divorced with two awesome children. A son who is 22 and doing an apprenticeship in carpentry. He has been on his own since he was 19 in his own apartment and I am sooooooooo proud of the man he has become.
My daugher is 14 going on 18 She is gorgeous and funny and a pleasure to be around.
I am a registered nurse currently the nurse manager of a large medical unit. I have seen first hand the damage that obesity does to our bodies in the long term and yet all I have ever done is yo yo. I have no problem losing weight it has always been keeping it off.
I see the Lap band as a tool that will help me to accomplish that goal.
I live on Vancouver Island in Canada and this is a big step of faith going to Mexico to have surgery. After reading most of the posts on this forum I am feeling confident that I made the right decision. I really appreciate the medical personal that have commented on their experiences because that really helped me to make up my mind.
An update to my profile is that I was banded on Sept 29/09. I have lost 131 pounds as of May 17/10. Being banded was the best decision I ever made. So far I have gone from size 6x to a size 14 and am still loosing. I am 11 pounds from my goal weight of 175 that was set by Dr Miranda.
