  1. HELLO VALERIE, I HOPE YOU DONT MIND ME REPLYING TO YOU AS I HAVE NOT HAD MY SURGERY YET, BUT HAVING READ ALL THE INFO GIVEN TO ME I BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY BE SIPPING FLUIDS FOR THE FIRST 2WKS POST OP. ANY THING THAT CAN BE SUCKED THROUGH A STRAW AND DEFINITLY NO FRUIT, NO FIZZY DRINKS OR CHEWING GUM AS THESE CAUSE GAS IN YOUR STOMACHE AND CAN MAKE YOUR BAND SLIP. 2-4WKS POST OP IT SHOULD BE PUREED SOFT FOODS LIKE VEG, MASHED POTATO, SOUPS SOFT PASTA, AVOIDING BREAD, MEAT, CHICKEN AND RICE FOR THE FIRST 3 MONTHS. MINCED MEAT IS ALLOWED. I'M NOT A DOCTOR OR A DIETICIAN BUT THIS IS THE SOME OF THE ADVISED INFO I HAVE BEEN GIVEN. I HOPE IT HELPS, GOOD LUCK. FLATZ.
  2. HIYA EVERYONE, TODAY I THOUGHT I'D GIVE THE PRE-OP DIET AGO:huh: Y. I'M NOT DUE FOR SURGERY UNTIL 15TH NOV, BUT DECIDED TO TRY AND STICK TO IT AND IF I CAN'T I'VE GOT TIME TO MAKE A 1000 CALORIE A DAY DIET. THE CONSULTANT HAS ADVISED MILK AND YOGHURT AND OXO FOR EVENING MEAL, WITH LOTS OF WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS DIET AND IF SO HOW DID YOU GET ALONG? MY ONLY WORRY IS THAT FROM THE 8TH-12TH NOV I'LL BE IN NEW YORK AND DONT KNOW IF I TRUST MYSELF ALSO YOU ARE ADVISED TO TAKE IT EASY BUT I'LL BE ON A SHOPPING TRIP WITH THE INTENSION TO SHOP TILL WE DROP (HA HA) ANY IDEAS OR ADVISE WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS, FLATZ.
  3. Hi Brenda, I'm due to have mine fitted 15th Nov, I to am very excited, but worrying about the pre-surgery diet. I turned 40 in June and My hubby has paid for me to go shoping in NYC, This was all booked in June before I decided to have the band fitted. Anyway I booked the Surgery for 15th two days after I return, Thinking I could enjoy my holiday,I knew they wanted me to lose 14lb before surgery but with 2 months to lose it I knew I could do it, but yesterday I received a pre-op diet of milk and yoghurt that Like you I have to follow 7 day prior to reduce my liver, so I have to start the plan the day I fly out, My husband wants me to delay the op and part of me wants to, but I'm thinking its only food, I'll still see all the sites and enjoy the shopping. But I'm not sure what to eat in the U.S. Anyway if you want me to give you some of the suggestions I.v been given to eat or should I say drink (LOL) I'd be glad to. I just keep looking the bigger picture and when the weight starts to come off the food won't seen so important (hopefully)So I'm here for you for whatever you want to talk about, if you want and share some happy times.Good luck.
  4. Thanks for your comments, I feel much better now. Flatz.

  5. Hello everyone. I'm due to have my band fitted on the 15th November and was all excited about it until i read that it doesn't always work. I know that the band is not a magic wand and that you have to work with it and that I'm prepared to do that 100% but if you do not always get restriction? that is what I'm paying for other wise it seems pointless. My band is costing me £5000 I've paid £1000 deposit and am due to pay the remainder by the 5th November, but now I am thinking have I done the right thing. I got a 5 year loan to pay for it. I know it might not sound like a lot of money to some people and if I lose half of my excess weight it will be worth every penny. At 21.5 stone (lb) and still gaining I'm desperate, but don't want to waste my money:unsure: Any words of advice or any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
