  1. Hi Tired, I had my second fill 1 week after the first because the first didn't work at all. The second is mediocre to say the least. I am now scheduled for a third fill!! July 11th. That will be three weeks after the second. The doctors' office staff I go to said they are finding that more fills appear to be needed the first year - well, it seems to be true for me. I will try a third and if that doesn't work, well.....I'm open to suggestions. Best, Helen
  2. Hi, I'm not having an easy time either. I can't even tell when I am full!!!!! I was banded on april 2, and had two fills - 9 June and 16 June, the first didn't work. The second seems a little better, but I notice my appetite doesn't get sated enough and it is not head hunger only. I have only lost a total of 12 lbs since April and only 4 since being banded - which I suppose is ok, but I have already made an appt. for a third fill July 11th. I have a 5cc band and they put in .5 cc's each time, but the doctor told me I have a total of 1.5 cc's because of the air!!!! Anyone ever hear of that? I really thought this would work better than it is doing; so I am feeling discouraged. I get the the "stuck" feeling lots too - Last night I tried to eat a chicken wing - big mistake - don't try it. Yet, I can eat bread with no problem. Can't eat scramble eggs though. I guess we all have to find what is right for us and what works. I'm hoping the third fill will be a charm. Any advise?? Best, Helen

  4. Hi, I was banded by Dr. Ortiz on April 2, 2008. Today, I had my first fill in Fl. The doctor put in 1 CC under floroscopy and gave me some barium to drink (a couple of sips actually). It wouldn't go down so he adjusted to .7 CC - only air bubbles came down and so he gave me .5 CC and then it came down. He told me I would need another fill in a month since it only took .5 CCs. My comment and question: I have been hungry ever since. I had 4 cups of pureed soup, 20 ounces of water and about a cup of blueberries and it has only been 6 hours. What is the problem? Sincerely, Fatcat
  5. Hi Mm, You look absolutely great! The difference is incredible - especially in the dress - wow! I am so happy for you. Helen
  6. PB, Thanks so much for sharing your pictures. You have a great looking family, including the pets. It's fun to get to "know" another bandsters a little better. Best, Helen By the way, I just noticed you wrote that you were very unhappy with your fill in TJ - what happened? I have been off site for awhile and can't find out if you wrote about it.
  7. Dear MM, I have been following your weight loss closely and I am tickled pink for you. What a wonderful event - into the 100s! Good for you! Helen
  8. I see that some people have a second fill so soon after the first and don't understand why. Is it because the first is not working? Shouldn't it last longer than a month? Does the saline solution drip out? Helen
  9. Hi Kimmie, You answered part of my questions before I asked this am! I'm so happy you are tickled with your fill-it gives me hope. I have been staying at the same week for weeks now and hope to have my first fill the end of May/early June.
  10. Hello to all you ladies (and men) who have had your first fill. Is your weight loss a good amount; is it better than before the fill? Has your appetite decreased and has the amount of food you can eat at one time decreased? Please give those of us who have yet to have our first fill, some information and all the advise you can. Thanks so much, Helen
  11. Hi SRossell, I just got on google and typed in bariatric lapband surgery in PA and many results came up. Look them over to see what is near you and then call their office to see if they will do a fill. Lots don't like to because we were banded in TJ. I did, however find one to fill me in Fl where I live and he is ok with my having had surgery in TJ. He will also do the xray which I insist one for precautionary reasons. Best, Helen
  12. Hi Alana, I took CP for a very very long time and to NO benefit. Mydoctor said the average person does not need them nor will they benefit from them. However, if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic they should help. Best, Helen

  14. Hello Everyone, I couldn't get on this web site and had to pay Apple (IMAC) $50.00 today to try to find the problem - anyway, long story short, can't find problem. But they told me to go to Vtunnel.com and write in the web site. I did that and now I am here again. Apparently something on my way to this web site is getting blocked. Ok, enough.. I will be part of the exercise group. I see you are in a week into it, but that's ok, I've been exercising all week. I will continue to do: 3-4 times a week for at least an hour at a time. My workout is 30-45 minutes walking and 30 minutes of weight lifting each time. I guess that means I am a bronze, silver or gold. Can't figure it out. Happy to be back, Helen
  15. Terri, I just read what you wrote on April 28 and if I read it correctly you lost 26 lbs in over a year and your son lost nothing???? Have either of you had a fill yet and have you spoke to Dr. Ortiz about this? I am really curious to hear your story. I wish you and your son lots of better times ahead. Helen
