  1. OH MY GOODNESS you guys!!! Just having all these replies to my question is such a relief already. You start to think you are the only one going through this then all of the sudden, BAM! I look on here and have like 6 or 7 replies to my question. It truly makes me feel like I have a circle of support around me, and I am so thankful. YOYODIETER--After reading your reply, it hit me. Your description of your port is EXACTLY what mine feels like...tilted and close to the surface. I have always wondered if this is normal and am SOOO relieved to hear I'm not the only one who's port is placed in this manner. You have eased my mind more than you could imagine, and I so appreciate it. The first time I went in for a fill the lady that does my fills asked if I had a general idea where my port was located. I said, "Yes, I know exactly where it is. You can feel it without even really pressing." She said, "Oh, I don't think so honey, you should't really be able to feel your port. :-? People who do this everyday can feel it, only because they know what they are feeling for. But you'd have to press like crazy to find it." I said, "Ok, then...feel for yourself." SHE FREAKED OUT. She said, "Wow, you were right (I know lol). I have never felt a port so close to the surface! You will be easy as pie to fill!" Anyhoo, my aching port problem is really starting to make sense now. Thank you all so much for taking the time to write back to me and explain how your port feels. By the way--TARA2SASSY4U, my port also feels much better if I'm either standing up, or sitting absolutely straight up. Elongating my torso, like you, feels much better. Maybe it's God's way of saying I need to work on my posture! Thanks again everyone... LOVE YOU ALL !!! --Bethany (I'm thinkin' PAIN IN THE PORT should be my new forum screenname )
  2. Mindy, Thank you so much for your sweet compliments! You look STUNNING!!! The only thing I can think of is that about a month ago my hubby and I were playing around wrestling, and he picked me up and tried to sling me over his shoulder. I couldnt scream fast enough that he had just put all of my weight smack dab on my port. He realized it too and put me down just as fast as he could without throwing me and apologized profusely. It was sore for a couple days then was fine and I thought nothing of it. Fast forward to now when it's bothering me again. I guess I will have to get a flouro maybe and make sure everything is ok. I haven't had flouro yet, so maybe its time, even if only for my piece of mind. Thank you so much for your reply. Oh, and keep up the great work!! You look absolutely incredible!! --Bethany
  3. I am 5 1/2 months post-op, and in the last week or two I have been experiencing discomfort and even low level aching in the left side of my stomach in the area of my port. Is this normal? I feel it most when I am sitting or leaning to the left or bending over. It isn't excrutiating or anything, but it is noticeable. Has anyone else had this feeling, being this far post-op? My last fill was over a month ago, so I dont think it has anything to do with that. If anyone has any experience with this feeling please let me know. I'm a little uneasy about it.... --Bethany
  4. I love chili, but would probably never even have thought to stop by Wendy's to enjoy it!! You see? THIS is EXACTLY why I love my LapBand Forum. You all are full of GREAT ideas, and I am thankful everyday that I found this website. I am really really stuck in a rut at 52 lbs. I have to admit, I haven't been exercising and really need to get back on the wagon. Any words of wisdom? Again, thanks for the chili suggestion...I'm gonna go try it very soon! --Bethany
  5. I totally agree that Metformin is a wonder drug! I had my first child then was unable to get pregnant until 5 years later thanks to Metformin. I had my son then got pregnant easily again after that. We now have three children and are happier than ever. I know that losing weight makes the body more fertile, but for PCOS, Metformin is a good addition to the fertility plan. Best of luck to you!! >
  6. I have a 10cc band, and recieved my first fill in late May. I recieved 1.4cc and it worked well for awhile. Now I am hardly feeling any restriction so my second fill is scheduled for this Tuesday. Hopefully it will help me get out of this slump I am in. I haven't lost any weight in over 3 weeks! DEPRESSING!!! ( Does anyone have problems with actually GAINING weight during their period? I can gain up to 7 lbs during that week! I usually lose it, but MAN! I just need to accept that will probably happen every month around that time and put my scale away until it's over. Can you tell I'm in a bit of a slump?? --Bethany

  10. Hey Hanna! I took your advice and I scheduled a fill at NW Fill Center in Arlington on the 28th. Thanks for the suggestion. I will let you know how it goes!

  11. Hey girl, I just wanted to let you know that I too have hit a plateau. What a SCARY proposition!! How silly of me to have thought this wouldn't happen to me. Hopefully all these encouraging words will ease our fears and get us back on track. I really need to start being dillligent about exercising, that is my biggest obstacle! I feel bloated all the time and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my plateau? Anyhoo, just wanted to let you know I feel your pain and I'm in the same boat as you. Hang in there and let me know when you start to lose again and I will do the same!! > Bethany
  12. Hey girl! I have a quick question for ya. Where did you find the sparkly pink star that says "I lost (enter your amount here) lbs!" I can't seem to figure out how to add that to my profile and its pretty neat looking, so I want one!! Let me know when you have time. Thank you!!

  13. I have to tell ya, my experience was less-than wonderful too. :lb12: It was more painful than I had anticipated and my recovery took longer than I expected. I was sooo swollen and restricted that even licking a popsicle was nearly impossible to swallow. ( After getting on the forum and asking fellow bandsters if this was normal, I was told I should call my surgeon. My surgeon advised me it wasn't normal, and to go directly to my local ER. I did, and it was discovered that I was SEVERELY dehydrated and had a bowel obstruction. I was hospitalized for 3 days. They rehydrated me, provided me with excellent pain control, and made sure the obstruction was gone before releasing me. It was a very scary ordeal, but I can finally say I am on the road to recovery. There were a few times I questioned if getting the band was all worth the pain I was going through and what I was putting my scared family and friends through. But in the end, I decided the benefits would eventually outweigh the cons. I hope everyone thinks long and hard before deciding to have the band. I think it will turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, but people also need to realize there can always be complications and also that everyones pain threshold us different. Good luck to all!! <' /> --Bethany
  14. Yep, that's what I did, only it was 2 weeks on atkins. I lost 12 lbs in 10 days! I was shocked eating beef with a side of beef could make me lose weight so fast! LOL
  15. Hey everyone, As most of you know, I wasn't banded in TJ like most of you, but rather in Denver. Anyhoo, I am going back there on May 31st for my first fill, and, well...here comes the stupid question.... Will my band set off the metal detector at the airport? Is any of it metal? Just wanna be prepared to tell them I am a Bandster, and not a terrorist! Thanks all! Bethany
  16. I was banded on April 30th, and so far I have been mostly eating full liquids, but I have also ventured a little bit into "soft-food land". I had a bad experience with a boiled egg, and it felt like I was being choked to death from the inside out. It was miserable!!!!! I wanted to cry and I will not soon forget that feeling of food getting stuck. I can tell it wont take very many times of that happening for me to be more careful what I eat and how well I chew!
  17. Let me just say one more time that the GNC 100% Whey Protein powder is, in my opinion, the very best. After purchasing it, I also bought the Atkins Advantage ready-made shakes, and the Slim-Fast Optima ready-made shakes. I was very disappointed to find I could barely choke either of them down. On top of everything, they are also MUCH more expensive! Needless to day, I will stick with my tried-and-true GNC mix. Thank you once again for suggesting it. It just goes to show once more that this forum is a God-send! What a wealth of great information and support that can be found! Thanks again! PS--looks like everyone is doing SOOOOO great!! Keep up the good work, Bandsters! =D> --Bethany
  18. Thanks girls. I will call right now. If anyone can please tell me, what did you drink in the first 2-3 days, and how much? I feel like there is DEFINITE restriction (due to swelling, of course) and it's impossible to keep more than the tiniest sip donw. Hope this was the right decision for me! I'll keep you posted. As always, thank you sooooo much for your support! Muuuuuah!!! Bloated Bethany
  19. Hey everyone. Just wanted you to know I am official! I was banded Wednesday afternoon, 4/30. I am really really sore, but aside from that, I can only drink about 5 sips of water a DAY, then I start to feel like I'm going to vomit . Feels like I may be getting dehydrated. Can anyone tell me, is that normal in the first few days?? :lb12: Paranoia is kicking in big time!!! Loves to my fellow bandsters, Bethany >
  20. I LOVE seeing your progress pics!! They are so inspiring, Michelle! Keep up the good work! 6 more days til I'm with the BAND!
  21. I read your post and went right out and bought the GNC 100% Whey. It is pretty darned good. Thank you so much for the suggestion. Looking at all the options out there started to make my head spin!!!! Hopefully I wont get sick of it too soon! Thanks again!!!! >
  22. Hey Chad, I'm pretty new to the forum, and so far I think its wonderful! What a great resource!! I do have a question though...I know how to make a weight ticker and all that good stuff, but how do I get it to show up at the bottom when I post something? Oh, and also my weight, banding date, goal weight, etc? I'm retarded Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you, Bethany >
