  1. I think it's just the salmon itself that I don't like. I can't put my finger on it. I can't tell if it's the texture or just the taste itself. I am so disapointed. I really had my hopes up for this one
  2. Help! I had my hopes up about salmon, but no matter how I prepare it I still don't like it.. Any thoughts? It seems that every restaurant serves salmon as a healthy option when I go out with the family, but I can't get through the first couple bites. Does anybody have a tastier way to enjoy it? Is it just an acquired taste? Help, I am very frustrated here
  3. Ok folks, here is a dumb question: Is there a place on the site where all the posted recipes are compiled or do I need to search them from each post? I am very happy to have finally been bended on 12/23 and even happier that I started my soft food stage this week. The last few days of liquids were killing me,but now I am a happy camper again. I just bought a crock pot and magic bullet blender and I am not afraid to use them.Any suggestions of some fan favorites during this stage? Thanx Neal
  4. Looking for some real advice on what choice to make between the 2.Pros and Cons: let's have them.
  5. Already done and the Band is responsible for me making that call. My wife has been on my cse for a few years as well as those sleeping spells at work. I finally went and couldn't believe the results. I stopped breathing 79 times an hour which meant that I never have a sound sleep at all. I actually can't wait until tomorrow for the CPAP calibration test so I can start making up for lost time. My original concern was turning my wife off by having to sleep with a masked man,but she said she will happily sleep with "Zorro" as long as she doesn't have to wear her IPOD to bed anymore.LOL
  6. That's awesome. I can't wait to be saying the same thing!
  7. Thanx everyone for your input. I was just asking because I was being asked similar questions from my wife and really didn't know how to properly respond. I am definitely not looking to "beat the band" and eat everything that I shouldn't, I was just asking for the best advice which is what it seems happens here. Thank you also for the "OCC" clarification. I found the board thru Google and never even looked at the name. I am looking at the surgery like a stage in life. I was explaining to somebody about how getting the band was like a single person getting married. You spend your early years partying and "living free" while searching for that significant other to spend the rest of your life with. Although you may not have any regrets of the path that brought you to where your current state is,you surely can't continue that behavior. You finally find the person you were looking for and decide to give up many of the activities that you were accustomed to and begin the new life and family together. I'm not saying that I want to regress to some of the bad behaviors,I was just asking how an occasional dabble into them would feel. Trust me, I know I will not live another 36 years by living the way I lived the first 36,but I need to understand my limits and my perks. Thanx again for the "strong" response. I do appreciate the passion on this board
  8. What exactly is the OCC? I am new to the board and see OCC everywhere and am just too lazy to search and see what it means myself.
  9. How many people have eaten pizza post surgery and how soon after the band did you have it. Pizza and wings are my biggest vices and need to plan ahead mentally for surgery. Please help
  10. Update o my surgery. So far this week I have had my Psyche clearance, sleep apnea stage 2 test, pulmonary clearance, endocrinology clearance, eco cardiogram and all other tests are scheduled. Surgery should be in early December. So far so good
  11. Thanx for the updates everybody and the support. I have decided to go ahead and join the "BAND Wagon" I have made the appointments for the EKG,Sleep Apnea, and surgeon. I am using the same surgeon as a friend of mine for a few reasons. First the testimonials I have read regarding this surgeon are amazing.Second, my insurance currently covers 100% of surgery after my deductible is met but will change to 85% coverage on 1/1/09. The office I spoke to is very willing to work with me so I can get in before the end of the year so I can "afford" to go through with the band. Wish me luck, I have to hope all the stars align and I don't get screwed up by some red tape that will cost me my chance. More to follow
  12. .... but just don't know enough. My sister had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago and did great but the "dumping" scares me off My impression of the LapBand is that the weight loss is slower which could help with excess skin if it goes over time and the costs of wardrobe involved. I really don't know where to go or who to trust. Any ideas where to start? I am a 36 year old man with 8 year old twin sons and I really want to be more active in their sports, etc. My one twin already has a weight issue that I need to tackle, but how can I before I understand the best way? I am a typical stress eater and sometimes out of control. I need help with that. Family history of overweight people with some diabetes and heart disease mixed in,not to mention I probably have sleep apnea as well since I exhibit every symptom, but refuse to go for the study and wear that mask. There's more but I will be lucky enough to get advice on what I already posted, before I look for more. Thanx in advance everyone
