  1. i'm 1 pound away from losing 50!!!

  2. Well, I am a sucker and bought a pair. They were on sale and i had a 30% off coupon at Kohls. I paid $72. Not terrible price. I walked in them last night for the first time. I walked the same route i always walk in the same amount of time. Today, my leg and butt muscles and noticibly sore. Like anything in life, i am sure they are not a miracle shoe but hey. everylittle bit helps right!
  3. Shape Up Shoes Has anyone tried these shoes? Do you think they are worth the $100 they cost? Any feed back would be helpful. Thanks KJ
  4. Oh too funny! I am eating the "Taco Soup" as we speak. It is so good. I make it with out any meat at all and just get the protein from the beans. I also use the low sodium taco seasoning and only half the packet of Ranch, just to help with the sodium and cals. It is amazing. I am on the pre-op diet (and waiting to sort out passports and finances to get the band) and have ate a ton of the soup. Its warm, taste good, and makes you feel full! i have lost 36 pounds already! Yay! Hang in there girl, you can do it. Search the web for new recipes you can make. Try them out. so will work, some wont- but you will have fun with food. Just in a different way then in the past. Best of luck! KJ

  9. Well...I have not been banded yet, but I am on the pre-op diet. I have lost 29 pounds on it! Yay! But anyway, my most embarrassing moment so far: at church last Sunday, I wore this adorable sundress that I rewarded meself with. I stand up to go in line for communion....my undies start slipping down my butt. What’s a girl to do? i try not to panic! I can't pull them up from under my dress or even over my dress....AH!! I took a step forward and at that moment, my undies slipped off my butt! I quickly sat down, skipped communion (I am positive god understood this one) and slowly wiggled my undies back on during the last half of the service. I left church and headed straight to Target! Lesson learned! LOL KJ
  10. I have not had surgery yet; I am waiting on my passport and finances to work out. I am hoping I can schedule it for sometime in June. I have a high BMI and needed to lose 30 pounds in my pre-op diet. I didn't know how long that was going to take, but I am down 21 pounds as of last week. I have a weigh in tonight. I have made a lot of changes in my life for the good. Next step: Banded!

  12. My doctor put my on Metformin to help my PCOS. He said it is medically proven that in patients with PCOS, who are normally obese to severely obese, regulating their insulin levels will made the adjustments in the hormones to make the body produce a menstrual flow. My doc started me out on 500mg per day for 2 weeks then 500mg morning and night =1000mg/day for 2 weeks then finishing at 500mg 3 times a day totaling 1500mg/day. I think that I am going to extend the 500 for another week or 2, with the ok of my doctor) Thanks for the information and advice. I will just stick it out and hopefully in the end, it will do what it’s meant to. Thanks for the support and advice.
  13. I am on the Pre-op Diet, and doing fairly well on it. I can’t say there is not a struggle some days or that I am not every hungry, but overall it’s not bad! I have lost 21 pounds so that rocks!! Early this week I went to the doctor for some “other health” issues, related to being over weight. In the past I have been diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome). The doctor I seen recommended I start talking about a drug called Metformin. This drug, she said “will help your PCOS symptoms (lack of menstruation) and will also help your body even things out and for you to loose some weight”. I am thinking PERFECT!!! So after two days of this “helpful” drug I am sick! Terribly sick! I feel pukey, nauseated, and have diarrhea. I can’t hardly eat or hold food down, which I guess is helpful for loosing weight, but its hard to get thru daily life such as family, work, etc. while sick all day! My questions: has anyone ever heard of this? Has anyone ever been on it? Suggestions and thoughts are all appreciated!! Wishing you all the best, KJ
  14. Chicken Cabbage Soup 2 cans or 1 large box of fat free reduced sodium salt chicken broth 1 large onion sliced 2 cups carrot chips (or frozen, fresh, or canned) I personally like the fresh chips. 1 cup chopped celery 2 tbsp fresh or dried parsley ½ medium head cabbage, chopped ½ bag frozen sweet peas 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breast cut in small pieces (optional) This is my version of chicken noodle soup. You can add the chicken for some protein but its just as good with out it. Directions: Cook the cut up chicken, onion, and parsley in a few tablespoons of the chicken broth. Add celery, carrots and remaining broth. Bring to boil. Add cabbage. Cook until cabbage is at consistency you prefer. Add peas the last few minutes. *Hint: I often leave out the chicken and make a batch of this for work lunches. A trick I learned is to only cook the soup about ¾ of the way. Then, when I warm up the individual servings, it cooks it the rest of the way and the veggies are not too over cooked and limp.
  15. Hey all! I am new to the site, but I have been reading all your post and they have answered a lot of my questions. So keep up the awesome work. But, I am also looking for some help on my pre-op diet. Or my pre-pre-op diet. I have to loose about 30 pounds before the OCC can safely perform the lapband surgery for me. I am 25 years old and have a lot of life to live. 30 pounds seems like a lot, but I am quite determined to make this work!! I have chose diet #2: 2 protein shakes and a lien dinner (frozen meal). With that said, I have few questions and looking for some suggestions on the pre-op diet: Do I have to use the protein drinks or can I eat protein bars? What amount of protein should I consume a day? Does it matter the amount of fat in the bars/shakes? What about beverages? Coffee, Diet Soda, Water--are all these acceptable? What amount LF or FF yogurt or cottage cheese? Any answers to my questions or suggestions on pre-op diets, exercise, or preparing for the band would be greatly appreciated. ~KJ
