  1. Thanks. I emailed Dr. Ortiz regarding the rash too. So far it looks like my incision is healing fine, just itches like CRAZY!!!! Do you know how long the glue stays on the skin and does it rub off or wash off on it's own?
  2. I was banded on October 1st and starting yesterday I noticed that the glue, or it might be the betadine not sure which one, has started causing a slight rash. I washed off as much of the betadine as I could but there is still some under the glue holding my incisions closed. I have VERY sensitive skin and wondered if anyone else had this issue and if they were able to use anything to help with the itching and the redness while still healing properly? Other than the rash, I'm doing awesome. I've lost 2 lbs since my surgery and can't wait to lose more. I still feel hungry at times, but nothing so major that a glass of juice doesn't help with.
  3. How are you feeling today?

  4. Everybody is really friendly. You'll get to meet others that are there to get banded and others that are there for fills. Most of those "bandsters" are more then happy to answer some of your questions. You'll also get to meet with Dr. Ortiz so all medical questions can be directed to him before your surgery.

  5. I just returned home yesterday after being banded and the crossing into the US took almost an hour. Now we were on the shuttle so we had to go in a special line, get out of the shuttle, go into customs, and then meet up with the shuttle on the other side of the border. We were also coming back over at around 11am, so that might also determine how long the wait is. I've always seen the crossing time as a guessing game, I'd give myself a few extra hours, but 7 seems like a lot. I think the wait at the clinic might be where you spend most of your time. Good luck and keep us posted.
  6. Thanks for the good advice. I'm so nervous already, I can't imagine waiting for my turn! How is the atmosphere with everyone waiting?

  7. I was just banded 2 days ago and I'm on the road to recovery. A little tender but nothing that I can't handle. Make sure you bring something to read. There were 6 scheduled surgeries, I was #5, and I ended up waiting over 7 hours. The surgery was very quick though, 12 minutes. Over all, my experience was great!!!! Good luck and congrats on your new life.

  8. I'm home and on the road to recovery. My surgery took a total of 12 minutes. Way to go Dr Ortiz!!!! I'm a little tender but nothing that I can't handle. Now on with my new and improved life.

  10. My surgery is just over a week away and I'm trying to get ready for when I'm back at home. I'm making my grocery list for the first week and just wanted to see what others had liked while on the 'juice only' part of their post-op recovery? I spoke with Dr. Miranda last week and she suggested Apple and Cranberry Juice, which I love both of, but I wanted a few more flavors to choose from. Is there any juice I should stay clear of? Right now I can't drink any Crystal Light, the heartburn I get after is unbelievable, so those are off my list. Did anyone seem to have reflux or heartburn issues with certain juices? Also, how much juice should I be attempting to drink a day? Dr. Miranda also said they should be diluted, but didn't say how much? I have week 2's soups taken care of after finding a plethora of them at Sprouts. They have no solids but tons of flavor (I tested them of course). I have drinkable yogurt on my list of "OK" foods for that week as well, but I'm not sure about pudding. It's not a solid but it's thicker than a drinkable yogurt. Anyone know if those are ok? Week 3 is, I guess, a mix of weeks 1 and 2 but then some protein powder thrown into the mix? I was going to start making my own shakes at that point with frozen berries, fat free milk, and protein powder. I want to do this right so any and all ideas or suggestions are welcomed.
  11. Down 12lbs. I still have 8 days until my surgery. I'm excited and have started making my "notes" on what I can't forget to take.......like my PASSPORT!!!!!!

  12. I'm scheduled for the LapBand on October 1s., I'm starting the month off with a BANG!!!!!!! My husband and I live in San Diego, so we'll be driving down to the border then hitching a ride at Mexicoach. Now I'll have another reason for October being my favorite month, the other being Halloween of course
  13. Bought the FitBit and so far I'm loving it.

Hi there.... I am also having my lap-band on October 1st. Our plane lands at 9:05 pm on Thursday night, so we should be at the hotel by 10:00 hopefully. Looking forward to meeting the gang who is scheduled for the 1st. Good luck if I don't get to meet you prior to surgery.

  14. I'm scheduled for my Lapband surgery on Oct 1st so I haven't started my pre-op diet as of yet. My son just started preschool last week so I was able to get in some gym time on those days. Now I'm getting a little worried. I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 5 lbs since I last weighed myself which was Aug 12th. My experience with working out shows that once you start turning fat into muscle, the numbers on the scale will start to go up. I know it doesn't mean I'm getting fatter, but I'm worried that when I go for my surgery I might weigh more even though I've lost inches. Is this something that they take into account? I did take my measurements the same day I started working out but those numbers were never on my health survey. Anyone have this same "problem" before their surgery?
  15. You are going to ROCK! I had no hesitations. Embrace your new life.
