  2. Keep in mind that your body is constantly changing and adapting to the change. I'm done 55 lbs and I haven't lost any weight for 3 weeks so I was really discouraged. People kept complimenting me on my progress so I decided to go shopping. Well I'm down a size in pants and in shirts... So I'm definitely loosing inches but not seeing it on the scale. Make sure that you're keeping active. There are days where I don't have time to work out but even a 20 minute walk will make a difference. I also suggest finding ways to burn more calories i.e. stairs not elevator, parking on the furthest spot in the parking lot, walking the mall, when you clean add some muscle into it and deep clean (Put the swifter away and get on your hands and knees). These little things have made a difference to me on days where a good workout isn't possible. But I suggest measuring yourself or seeing how your clothes are fitting. There are also going to be periods of no weight loss... that's okay.. it's just your body adapting
  3. I had the plication 9/27/2013 so I'm free to move about. I had the same fear!!! When I was cleared to do crunches and abdominal workouts I had nausea. I e-mailed OCC and they said it was stomach cramping which is normal. So, after my mini-freakout.. I realized that nothing was going to happen. I've carried heavy boxes with them pressing up against my stomach, did yoga, kick boxing, pilates and nothing. No pain or nausea. One thought that I did have though was strengthening my abs so it provides a better barrier to my stomach but I believe that if anything is going with a blow to the stomach is a rupture spleen... not a ripped stitch. But trust me you are not alone with the fear. As you are able to move more and be more active the fear slowly goes away. I honestly don't event think about now, I just think about losing weight and looking amazing for the summer Good luck... it'll be okay p.s. I asked Dr. Ortiz about the stitches ripping etc and he said that it wont happen.
  4. Have you talked with a nutritionist? I would document what you're eating and how much for a few weeks and see if you're getting the right nutrients. Vitamins are great but you also need vegetables, milk, etc.
  5. I hope you are walking! You need to keep moving in order to loose weight. I suggest walking 3x a week for about 20 minutes... the weight should start coming off!!
  6. Hi everyone!! I had the plication done in September.. I feel amazing . Feel free to message me with any questions
  7. I highly suggest the plication! I had it done in september and I've had no problems or symptoms with it. I feel amazing and I've already lost 40 lbs since september And if you get the plication, you don't have to have a drain.
  8. I had the plication done on the 27th. The facility is super clean and the staff are great. Your throat will be a little dry after surgery so make sure to ask for ice cubes!! Good Luck!!!!
  9. I will definitely look for you!! Good luck with your surgery also. We can be soon-to-be-skinny pen pals! Yes my DH is coming he doesn't like the idea of me going to Mexico alone. Or at least that's what he claims but I think he really just wants real Mexican food!
  10. I will be there on the 26th and 27th! Maybe we will see each other. I'm coming from upstate NY so I'm sort of close to you. Good Luck!!!
  11. Does anybody else have pre-op food envy? I was recently on the phone with a friend and she was eating lasagna. My mouth started to water and I started to crave lasagna. I don't even like lasagna!!! So I was just sitting there eating my green pepper thinking about how much I want food! I've been very very good on my pre-op diet of just protein shakes and vegetables. But, the more I see people eat... the more I crave their food even if it's normally food I don't like! Did/is anybody else experiencing this?!?!?!
  12. In search of delicious protein shakes!

I found a bunch of Shake recipes on the GNC.com website, I tried one today it was awesome.

  13. Surgery is September 27th!!! I'm having the gastric plication and i'm soooooo excited! I'm currently on my pre-op diet and luckily DH is joining me for the diet. So when i'm drinking my delicious protein shake so will he instead of eating a piece of pizza! Questions: I'm currently trying to find samples of bariatric shakes because I'm picky eater and I want to enjoy shakes. But, I can't spend $15-$20 for something I'm not going to like. Is anyone else having this problem?
