  1. Hi, I got the inamed band. My surgery was in April with Dr.Daly. I too checked out Dr. Willams at Emory but went with Dr. Daly. I have never felt better! I am down 42 lbs with two fills and I am getting a third 9/8/2008. I wish I would have gone to TJ but am glad I had it here. All fills for a year are included and follow up for 3 years. It was in a surgery center and not a hospital so the cost was lower, 13k, but not as low as TJ. This forum is what got me going, I do not post much but read it all the time. Amy
  2. Hi ackovach: I just saw you are from the Johns Creek area, I am in Cumming, Just wanted to say hi. I too had to sign a paper saying I would not take ibuprofen. I was banded in Atlanta and my surgeon really stressed how hard it is on your stomach. Tylenol does not do the trick but that is what I take when needed. Amy
  3. Hi Julie, I too was type two and two weeks after my surgery I was weaned off my meds. At my two month check up my A1C was 5, down from 8 and I was taken off my medication altogether. My endrocrinologist did not want me to have this surgery, too drastic, what ever... I am no longer on any diabetes medication and I feel awesome and he is out a paient! I guess this was the biggest reason I wanted this surgery, I did not want to take shots anymore, the weight loss is a lovley second reason (JK). Good luck to you and in no time I bet you too will be off all meds! Amy
  4. Hi All: I have tons of 16's-20's; I live in Atlanta, say the word and I will send them, I am tall, 5'9" so a lot of my clothes are tall, I work in a law firm so I have both casual and dress. I know there are many bandsters in this area, just let me know! Amy
  5. Hi Grammy: I am a 47 yr old grammy and I too am 5'9" and struggled with my weight for years. I too could lose only to gain back. So three months ago I had the surgery and I have lost 32 lbs and I know they are gone for good! You do change your lifestyle and you will need to be commited to this tool. It is effective if you want it to be. However this being said and why it will work for me is this is a tool I will have in my body, I like to think of it as my savings plan, for the rest of my life. It will not come and go with the next fad diet, it is here to stay. It saves on food, medication that I no longer need and may have saved my life by preventing the complications that being obese were bringing my way. I feel great, look better and cannot wait to reach my goal in 40 more pounds! Good Luck with your decision Amy
  6. Cathy: I had the same feeling at my 4 week check up so I waited until 8 weeks; I should have gotten the fill, I lost weight but then I noticed I could eat more than I should and I was hungry more often, like every two hours. For my first fill I got 2cc's and I had better restriction, you get use to it and readjust your eating. I belive that is the reason for the small fills, to let you get use to the feeling and yet continue to eat healthy. Just remember to really chew. I got another 1.5 last week and I have to really eat slow and take very small bites. I also have more restriction at different times, there is no pattern. I like the full feeling, Get the fill! Amy
  7. Welcome Donna! I too am from Atlanta, well north of Atlanta, I do not know any questions you should ask, I had my surgery here but I too was self pay. This is the best forum for all questions and support. I was banded on 4/18, best thing I have ever done! Time will fly on the liquid stage you will be fine!
  8. That is very awesome! WTG and keep it up! Small goals are what I am focusing on as well! Amy
  9. Hi All: Great job again Michelle! Along with cancer I can attest to the diabetic cure as well; I had my surgery on April 18th. At the time my AC1 was 7.9. I just got my AC1 checked and it is down to 5 with my avreage blood sugar at 91, and that is with no medication! I was able to quit the medication after about two weeks from the day of surgery. This was reason enough to have the surgery done! Well the weight loss is great too! Amy
  10. Hi Kim You are doing great! I was banded in the states, Atlanta Georgia to be exact and my surgeon did a 2cc fill in a 10 band for my first fill and he used the fluro, all was well, I go back for my second on July 3rd and he will most likley do another 2cc and see how that goes. He was basing the fill on weight loss and how good I feel. You have lost a lot of weight and look great. Keep it up, and if you feel good what more can be said. Amy
  11. Hi Michelle, I guess I suck at replying, I checked in last week with my exercise and do not see it so i am trying again, 1.7 miles at lunch x 4; 1 mile after work x 4; this week I have 1.7 miles at lunch x2 and 1 mile after work x 2. Dr. Told me I cannot lift weights for another couple of weeks so i have to hold off. Love your posts, Thanks Amy
  12. Day three of the challenge, 1.7 miles x3 and 1.5 x3 in the afternoon only walking. I forgot I cannot do curves yet, too much weight and abs... Maybe in two weeks. So I can only walk for now. Amy
  13. Hi Michele, Amy Murphy or Murph2 I am going for gold, only 2 weeks out and I am ready to get back into the routine! I am walking 1.7 miles at lunch and doing Curves after work.
  14. Good Morning All, I am new and have been hovering on this site for at least one month. Tomorrow is the day for me. The information on this site has been wonderful and has provided me with all the answers to questions I have had except one.. does anyone have type II and how has it been after the band? My concern is low blood sugar and how to handle it. Thanks for all of the great posts and here I go! Amy
