  1. Thank you so much for your post - I have been so discouraged and frustrated, too. I got the VG band 5/08 and weigh more now than the day I had surgery. I haven't had any restriction, and I'm at 8cc's. I'm going today at 3:00 to get more and see if I can finally experience what you're talking about. I have been feeling guilty that I've "broken" it, done something wrong, wasted money, wasted time, etc. Your post makes me have hope that I just need to keep trying to get it right. Thanks again - Tina.
  2. Hi to all! I'm Teensy01 - Tina - and I live just outside of Nashville, TN. I'm happily married and have two sons - one is married and the second gets married in August. I'm another 49'er who doesn't want to turn fabulous 50 with all of the same old baggage. I get banded 5/13. I didn't start getting heavy until after I had my sons 13 months apart, both c-sections. Seems I handle stress by medicating with food. My husband and family are all very supportive - my mom is going to come to OCC with me. I'm looking forward to the band to help me control my quantity of food. I don't snack - but have had a bad soda-pop habit. I went on the pre-op diet 2 weeks ago, quit the sodas cold-turkey and haven't had one since. I haven't started exercising yet, but I'm down 13 1/2 pounds as of this morning. Of course, at this weight, it does come off quickly at first. I get to San Diego on Monday @3:30 and surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. Will they still take us to OCC that afternoon for pre-op tests or wait until the next morning? If anyone has had similar schedule, I'd like to know. I'm sure I'll be talking to the OCC folks this coming week - but was just wondering. Thank you all for posting and letting us get a better picture of what to expect. Tina.
  3. You are looking great! It really helps to see your video diary - thanks for showing us. And your posts have been very helpful. You guys have all answered a ton of questions for me. I'm looking forward to 5/13 - B-Day.
  4. Hi Jacqui1 - I'm scheduled for 5/13 and started my pre-op diet about a week and a half ago. EAS also has a low-carb protein drink and I found it at GNC and Kmart. I was already getting tired of all the "sweet" protein drinks and tried something different today for lunch. I bought unflavored 100% whey protein power from GNC and mixed it in chicken broth! It dissolved well, I heated it, and had "chicken soup" protein for lunch. I don't know if anyone else likes it, but it satisfied my need for something not sweet.
  5. I'm arriving on the 12th and having surgery on the 13th. My mom is coming with me - she's a RN and I'm a big chicken! Can't wait to finally put the plan into action. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement.
  6. Name: Tina, Nashville Gender: F Band Date: 5/13/08 Height: 5'6" Highest Weight: 310 Current Weight: 300 Goal: 150 - or what my body will allow. I've never put this information on paper for anyone to see before! Thank you all for your encouraging posts - I'm looking forward to 5/13 - and getting help to stop my yo-yo.
  7. Hello! I'm scheduled for 5/13 - and I'm nervous and excited and apprehensive and on and on. My first post, hope this goes okay. I've been reading ya'lls posts for a while now and you're all very encouraging. I've been trying to get my nerve up to join in - and I'm coming in now for your support. I live in Nashville. My mom is in Texas and is going to OCC with me. My niece had hers done there last year and has done great and is very encouraging. I'll try to get a picture on as soon as I can figure it out. We fly in to SD on 5/12 but will have to do preops and surgery 5/13. Dr Miranda has me on 2 protein shakes and 1 Lean Cuisine until then to lose 15 pounds preop. I started last Thursday and have already lost 5. I look forward to 5/13 and to talking to you all soon. Thanks for the help you've given to me and all the others who are reading and trying to get it all worked out.
