  1. Not sure about the protein bomb but have to tell you the best thing I ever found and wish I'd known right after surgery is the protein bullet. It comes in fruit punch flavor and I put that in crystal light fruit punch and dring first thing in the am. It has 48 grams of protein and tastes really good with the crystal light otherwise way too sweet. Easy way to get all that protein in.
  2. I think I've got this all figured out now. All that pain in chest area etc was gas, it wasn't that I was full just filled with gas. Using those gas-x put on your tongue tape things really helped, I think I used the maximum per day 8 for the first 4 days. Plus walking helped. Now on day 11 and feel great. Started back to work today. I'm on the baby food stage with first appt with doc on Wed. I think they initially tell you to be on the all liquids for 2 weeks because that really is when you loose most of your weight. As soon as I moved to baby food consistency it slowed to less than a lb a day. The biggest tip I have for all of you is getting all your liquid protein in. I hated the shakes, not a big sweets person so I found these protein bullets on line and they deliver 47 grams in 1 shot. I pour it into a 20 oz bottle fill with water and sip on it until gone over a few hours then all my protein is in for the day and anything else I have is just gravy towards the 50+ supposed to get. As soon as I started to do that my energy came back and I feel so much better. Shortcut to: http://www.supplements.net/SearchResults.a...t1Vo9V7rw298pHd
  3. Ok I did something really stupid today. I was banded last Thursday and my directions said "should" be on liquids for the first 2 weeks but each stage is individual and as you feel more comfortable ok to move on to next as long as don't get nauseas or throw up. So last couple days been eating creamy things like egg salad in the blender or scrambed eggs in the blender and drinking hot tea to melt it so it went down no problem. Well this am woke up and had a scrambled egg and watery grits and everything was fine. This evening I moved to the next stage and tried mashed potatoes with tiny tiny pieces of chicken chewed really really well and milk. I think I eat too much now pain in chest. I think it expanded. I had little portions but think it expanded. I'm going back to watery things tomorrow. I talked to my brother who had bypass a few years ago and he said too soon. I need to be on liquids. You ladies are right. What the heck was I thinking..I let myself think I was ready...do you think my band might slip with just this one time? How do we know if it's slipped?
  4. :lb12: I am 4 days post op and know what you mean. My brother went through this years ago and has been a big help on what to expect. The first thing is everyone is different. He said to try this and after I get this creamy soup down that is currently stuck in my throat I'm going to try it too: Get a shot glass 2 oz and just drink from that once an hour. Get the Gas-X dissolve on your tong meds and take 2 of those will get rid of the gas that is also causing that feeling. I'm shocked your doc said to drink 8 oz when our new stomach only holds 2 oz, do you think you heard him wrong, 8 oz over a period of time not all in 1 sitting?
  5. I didn't have my surgery with Dr. Ortiz but find this site to be very informative. I am on day 4 and think I may have jumped the gun on drinking creamy soup. My list of ok things to have was creamy soup so put in the blender and tasted really good but I have that pressure in my chest feel so full, never want to feel that again so back to clear broth for me. I've lost 12 lbs since Thursday however. Strangest thing is the day after and through today my stomach is growling although no way I could drink anything more. My doc said that was funny but would eventually go away once can start to eat more solid food. Have any of you experienced the growling of your stomach this soon after surgery? :lb12:
