  1. Didn't cheat. Totally wanted to but didn't for reasons similar to RevyD. You've got 4 more days. YOU CAN DO IT!
  2. Sabrina - how long are you in town? I would love to meet you in person. I'm 30 minutes from the US border.
  3. Lisa, why did I think you were married a long time? Margaret
  4. Does your crotch hang low? Does it wobble to and fro? Can you tie it in a knot? Can you tie it in a bow?
  5. It's truly not a big deal, especially with Dr. So. There aren't a lot of nerve endings where your port will be (less than your arms, for sure). You'll probably be more fascinated with seeing your band on x-ray than thinking about the needle (well, maybe not!). It's not painful.
  6. I'm 6 months out and still learning. I had wisdom teeth removed and ate only ice cream for 10 days. (Yes, I gained weight. LOL) I am back on track now and my band still loves me, I think. I can't eat chicken, usually, cooked in any way shape or form. I have switched to beef for the occasional rolled taco (I live in San Diego). Fried things go down easier but I limit those. Bread is OUT, generally speaking, unless is it toasted and slathered in butter. Cereal is out, which is great as I used to eat 2-3 bowls before bed. Basically, all carbohydrates are difficult, so I stick with the band rules of protein first, veggies, fruit, carbs, in that order. I concur that Angie is a super poster, and a really nice resource for folks.
  7. We spell it "chux". They are a piece of thin plastic on one side and absorbent material on the other. They're often used in hospital beds right under a patients "business" to catch seepage.
  8. I concur (and I'm a nurse, too) that you should call the OCC and just see what they think. They truly want to help and might have some ideas you haven't thought of.
  9. I was in the San Francisco airport in March, sharing a meal with my mom. All of sudden, I knew I had to find a bathroom FAST. I rushed towards one, but ended up vomiting in the corner of one of the airport restaurants. It was horrible. I'm going to take some advice from a poster above and carry a zip lock bag with me ALWAYS from now on. In other news, I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed almost two weeks ago. The only food that went down AND felt good on my sore jaw was ice cream. I am probably the only person in history to gain weight after wisdom teeth removal!
  10. Angie, you're the coolest ever! You are one of the many posters I miss when I forget to come back to the community for awhile. I need to come back more often. Keeps me motivated. I just had all of my wisdom teeth removed and ended up with the complication of dry sockets. The only food that goes down easily is split pea soup and ice cream. I may be the first patient ever to GAIN weight after teeth extraction!
  11. Fiber Gummis? Never heard of them!
  12. Carrie, according to your "tags" you weighed 185 at surgery. This reminds me of a question: should we/do we need to be at goal weight before considering this type of surgery? I'd love to do it sooner rather than later because I know that extra tire isn't going anywhere...
  13. Wow! Carrie! A tummy tuck! I'm jealous. It looks like a lot of us "bandsters" get plastic surgery after awhile. Hmmm... Thinking about it. I'd love to get rid of that hanging thing under my belly button.
  14. Awesome post, Carrie! I remember now that you and I have something in common - our love of ice cream.
  15. I totally agree with Lisa. I got the band at the end of September 09 and I've decided to stop weighing myself. I just stick to the band rules MOST of the time, exercise, and the weight is slowly coming off. People notice. I feel good and strong. I have only had one fill and I have the 11cc band. No complaints!!
  16. It's nice to be reminded of the inches lost counting, too. I weighed myself for the first time in a month and was kind of shocked at the number. It wasn't as low as I'd thought it would be because I'm feeling GREAT. Clothes are looser, more energy. I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but can't the scale just budge already? LOL.
  17. I've been "off" since November, honestly. I had H1N1, then strep throat in December, then holidays, then a week in Belgium... I feel like I've gained a small amount, but I am on track again. I'm afraid to weigh myself as it could make me depressed. Maybe after another week of being "on it" I will subject myself to the scale.
  18. Way to go, Janet!!!!!!! I am still early in my journey so I really enjoy reading posts like yours.
  19. I agree with previous posters that you should get a second opinion before you spend more energy on hating the band. Good luck with everything and keep us updated!
