  1. Wow julie you are such an amazing person hang in there. Things will get better. I just think sometimes that since i have a band i will never gain any weight back and all those other MEAN people will eventually gain weight or gain back the weight they lost. Oh well Lucky us right. I got really upset at the IRS this last tax season and wanted to overeat to feed my emotions and i just got more depressed because when i did try to eat the BIG burrito and chips that i bought i could only take a bite or two and then was so full i could not eat anymore so i just cried cause now i wasnt able to feed my emotions. But sooooo glad that have a band or i would be right back were i started. hang in there and keep your chin up.
  2. thanks now i finally have a ticker. i didn't know how to do it b4.

  5. you all are too kind thank you so much for all the kind words and it is truely amazing just how much that one can do when you are not carrying around all the extra baggage. In fact we just had our state fair and i was kicked off of a ride last year because i could not safely "fit" in the restraints. Well this year i rode it three times and had a ball. I am not letting anything hold me back from what i want to do anymore. There is so much freedom now it is absolutely amazing. thanks again for all the support and kind words. Dr. Luke Mayes
  6. Wow, what a successful first three months we have had in our office. I am so excited to be Boise, Idaho's first Lap band fill center. We have meet some incredible people, and love hearing all the personal stories that each of you have brought in. We are seeing some wonderful success stories, and really appreciate the positive feedback that we are receiving. Due to the incredible success our office is having with Lap Band Fills, we have added a Lap band portion to our website. In order to receive some feedback on our website, we are giving a 20% discount on your next fill, to the first ten people who give us feedback regarding our website. Simply, just send your feedback to staff@drlukemayes.com after checking out the Lap Band Section of our website. www.drlukemayes.com Each of you have given me some great insight on how to help educate others and I would love to hear your thoughts. If you would take a moment to review our questions and answers, I would like to make sure that they are complete, and cover as much information as possible. Thanks again for making our grand opening such a great success. By the way, I wanted everyone to know we have flouroscopy now available at a distant location should our patients require it. Just an FYI remember if you are in Eastern Idaho, Cindy Rice is a nurse practitioner in Pocatello that has provided fills for years. She does an awesome job and has been my "fill center" as well. Her office number is 208-233-9355. I have loved being a part of each of your lives and am blessed to see each of you succeed at your weight loss goals. many Blessings, Dr. Luke Mayes 208-375-9000
  7. I knew b 4 i go my surgery that i would have to drive to pocatello idaho to see a nurse practitioner named Cindy Rice. She was my sisters personal "dr" and she also knew that she did post op fills. She is a fill center usa fill provider but i was referred to her by my sister and she still was willing to take care of me. on a whim i tried to call a local MD who did one of my patients lap bands and asked if he would be my fill doctor even as a professional courtesy, knowing that i would be glad to pay him, and there office said that they would be glad to fill me untill she realized that i went to Mexico for my surgery. she thought i was moving from another state and all that she wanted was my operative report. She said that it was so that the dr. could tell where my port was placed. Hello i a have a scar, and it is palpable, and i know where it is. like that really was the reason why. So if you think that they would do it for another doctor as a courtesy think again. When i do my fills i am not concerned with liability because all my fill patients have to sign a consent form and liability waiver, just like i did when i went for my fills in Pocatello. we all (as patients) must take responsibility for our own health and what we allow others to do for us. that being said, MD's are trained to do the surgery and should know plenty of information on how to do a simple fill. I take a minimum of 30-45 minutes with any fill, just because i want to be absolutely certain of what i am doing and give the patient the best possible outcome. And it is NOT rocket science. I truly believe that American MD's will not take foreign patients because they are upset they missed out on a 15-30K surgery. But as someone else suggested there is still allot of money that can be made doing fills. I personally would never let one of my staff (nurse/chirpractic assitants) trained or not, do any fills. but even if a MD trains a nurse and they are proficient at the fills, would it really hurt them to do it. I am just as confused as any one else. that is why my friends, i chose to become a fill doctor. Fill Centers has told me that they would have a facility open in a couple of weeks and that was months ago. And i know that with the price of gas and all, that is it rediculous for people to have to drive long distances to get there fills. So i am just as frustrated as everyone else here but there are solutions. Lets get more people trained to do the fills. Talk to your naturepathic doctors, nurse practicsioners, and chiropractors. Make sure it is within the scope of there practice and tell them about the benefits of being trained to do the fills. Just an idea. Thanks for listening to me ramble on. Hope this helps.

  11. hello don't know of where fill centers are in SLC but i do know a great nurse practitioner in Pocatello Idaho that is well worth the drive. She has done all my fills. her name is Cindy Rice and phone number is (209)233-9355. She is with the sleep and wellness institute. I am located in Boise, Id and would also be happy to help. but i do recomend someone close to you. try to contact fill doctors directly as they are often cheaper than directly through fill centers.
