  1. Well I weighed myself on Saturday - which would be 23 days post op - I am at 285lbs, so 14lbs since surgery. So that makes it 35lbs since mid-July. My first thought was ok - not too bad. Then I realized I hadn't done any exercise. I never lose any wieght with out exercise. So I am happy. I think in the next couple of weeks, I'll come up with some goals. I'd also like to postpone my first fill until I plateau.
  2. relatively reasonable cost - $480 all-in. That includes an extra leg on the end to get me to Victoria for Thankgiving. That is cheaper than what I paid in August. Also, I think I can deduct it for taxes.
  3. I haven't had my "real meal" yet. Kind of weird - I don't actually feel like anything. The only thing that comes to mind is the salad that I was chomping away at on my pre-op diet. Perhaps I am taking a certain amount of comfort in the regime. When I am back on hard foods I can go awry rather quickly. Cheers, Scott
  4. YEP, I'll go the OCC. Perhaps if it is done easily (e.g., well placed port), I will do it locally (well across the border in Washington State).
  5. My liquid diet ends tomorrow. I've not weighed my self since surgery (August 21, 2008) - but I've surely lost ten pounds (probably more, but I don't want to jinx things). Today I am wearing a shirt that I haven't worn in two years. It is off-the-rack, which is nice. I am thinking of going the Friday of CDN Thanksgiving and leave on the Saturday. Also, as far as physical discomfort goes I have none. Heck I can't feel anything but the port. In the 20 days - i've cheated exactly four times. 1) 1 slice of orange 2) 1 slice of banana 3) 1 green bean 4) 1 cookie Not bad, if I don't say so myself. Also looking forward to exercising. Will start on Saturday. Just some eliptical for a week or two. But thinking doing some resistance work after that, in order to build some muscle mass and keep the skin tighter.
  6. Well isn't that a nice suprise. Your life just a got a lot easier and cheaper.
  7. You're ride so far sounds a little rougher than mine. Chin up. (I am glad my biggest effort post-surgery in Mexico was trying to solve a Sudoko and watching Olympic platform diving en espanol. I had some yogurt yesterday...went down fine. Today nothing but tea so far. I did buy some liquid vitamin (actually dissolvable vitamins) that I'll take. No real hunger and no lethargy. You can feel your port - I can't. Well I am trying not "to touch myself" here at the office, lest I get a reputation.
  8. AlanaH, I'd check to see what time Delta and US Customs opens. If it is like Vancouver, neither won't open until 5pm. Update - just called the Edmonton Airport - US Customs opens at 4:45. http://www.flyeia.com/airport_guide/servic...formation_booth bigboyyvr
  9. On last thing, about every two days I try to hit the gym and burn atleast 600 calories (about 35minutes on the elliptical). This 600 calories represents the calories in the two shakes. Presumably it is helping with the metabolism too.
  10. I'm having better luck with pre-op diet, so long as I not at a social event. In the first 10 days, I dropped 10lbs despite going to a stag in NYC. Then this week, I was in a wedding party, so a few treats and beverages were had. I actually have no problem sticking to the diet (shake for dinner, small salad from salad bar (no dressing), and a shake for dinner), so long as I am not being social. I've had to cancel or decline lunch offers (even the free lunch) variety, as I it would be a challenge to stick to my guns. Also, as I haven't told my friends yet, it seems odd when I am eating nothing but salads***. So it looks like if I just lock myself in my office or my condo, I'll be fine. I don't have the problem of casing my apartment for food (unless I wanted dried pasta or oregano). My bigger issue is that so much of my social life revolves around food - wine and cheese, steak dinners, weekend brunches. *** I plan to tell my friends, but not until the surgery is complete.
