  1. Hi Michelle! You look fabulous! I've followed your progress since I joined the forum. You and many others are an inspiration for us all. It CAN be done! thanks for sharing! :cheerleader:
  2. Hi Dana and Kim, Welcome to the forum and best of luck on your banding. You've made a great decision and the members here are cheering for you. You both have a good start and we're anxious to hear how things went so be sure to post us after surgery. Hubby (fireytaxman) and I were banded on August 4 and he is getting his first fill next week. I'm not sure when I'll get my first fill. I do know that I need to get the walking and more exercise in. September was way too busy for us. I lost my mom and we spent a week back in Michigan then when we returned home, we had vendor tables at two fairs. We won't even go into the fair food, but we were better than we thought we'd be, though no pounds were lost but none gained. October is getting back on track and starting to lose again. More walking and eating has to get back on schedule. Not eating three meals a day throws off the metabolism big time and the body goes back into starvation mode and the pounds quit coming off. Three meals a day is a must, whether you are hungry or not, at least eat something. Hi to all the members we chat with. It's been a month since we've logged in so we have missed everybody bunches!! love you all!
  3. Hi Cath! Congrats on the loss and feeling the port! Take one day at a time and make it a new day. Each step forward gets us closer to goal and the support we get here from everyone makes the struggle that much easier. Thanks to all of you who post and encourage, it's greatly appreciated by many! :cheerleader:
  4. Vix, Congrats on getting to OCC! I've been reading you for a few weeks now so am glad that things went so well. After a month out, I am finally starting to feel pretty good. The gas and burning stomach were the worst for me and it made eating hard but finally is now easier. We should be getting our first fill at the end of the month. Hang in there, and best of luck! :cheerleader:
  5. Hi everyone! I've not checked in for while but am doing much better now since surgery on 8/4. I, too, had that burning sensation and even eating scrambled eggs burned my stomach. Between that and the gas pains, I too wondered if I messed something up. But I'm happy to say the burning and gas have now passed and it took three weeks! Hang in there, it does get better and now I feel almost normal again. I just have to remember to CHEW as odd as that sounds. I almost always get the first bite or two stuck just to remind me real quick! One day I'll learn! Best of luck to the newbies! Terr
  6. Hi Jen, We saw the Oprah Show and Cassie is indeed a beautiful young woman. She's done a fantastic job and I wish her well in the future. Terr
  7. Welcome to the newest Newbies, since I'm a Newbie! :-h We (Fireytaxman and I) just returned from Tijuana and surgery was Aug 4. The worst part for us was the internal gas that hung around and even today is giving me a problem but am sure it'll pass. We started the creamy soups today and Fireytaxman is down another 10 lbs! Luckily, I weigh what I did before the surgery as of today so I am happy with that. The weight loss will come once the swelling is gone. I need to drink more water, I'm sure. The paperwork said we'd feel better if not dehydrated so I'll up the water and have to make myself take the vitamins. Chewing them is nasty but got one stuck yesterday that I didn't chew. THAT won't happen again! LOL We met some wonderful fellow banders at the hotel and am glad we were able to support each other down there. Make note of who may be going down the same time you are so you can meet each other. It's great. Also be sure to stock up on GasX strips. We didn't and were told they work great so we'll be getting those tomorrow! Hang in and post often. I love the support here! Butter
  8. Welcome to all the newbies. We've only joined a week ago but love the support on the forum. Thank you all so much!! Logging in to check on everyone's progress is such a booster for us all. It can be done. I'm amazed that after three weeks on the post surgery diet, the weight is starting to come down and if I exercised MORE it would be that much faster! Duh! But we fly out Sunday am and surgery is Monday. We're getting so excited! Those who are having surgery the week of the 4th, hope we get to say hi at least! Butterfly1955 and Firey Taxman
  9. Hi everyone! Hubby (firey taxman) and I own five offices for H & R Block and he's been an Enrolled Agent for 25 years (in addition to being a full time captain at the fire dept). The medical expenses are deductible if they are over 7.5% of you AGI and don't forget the medical mileage for those of you who drive to the center, the doc, the fill center or your family doc. Please feel free to post here or send us email with any questions you might have and he can answer them for you. We'd be glad to help!
  10. Hi everyone! We use our magic bullet for everything. I haven't gotten my blender out in months so this should make our future easier. We get banded on the 4th so we're getting excited but the bullet purifies in 5 seconds! I'm sure it will do great with the soups we're hearing about. We love it!
  11. Hi Kittycat! I saw that you are from Kitchener. I'm originally from Michigan and have friends in Kitchener - Kal and Tracy Suhan - just a stab in the dark that you might know them. I live in Idaho now and love it out here!
  12. Hi Cathy40! We're being banded on 8/4 and will be at the hotel thru Sat 8/9 for some R & R! Look us up when you get to the hotel - Terry and John Blankenship - hope to meet you and best of luck!
  13. I've added some pics twice by mistake and now I can't figure out how to delete them. Any help would be appreciated. thanks,

    "Our" Journey to Slimsville!

John and Terry Blankenship We decided to do this journey together since we have each other for support, to share the good times and the bad and celebrate our achievements along the way. We will start 'our' journey on August 4 - surgery day! Actually - our journey began years ago when we meet on the internet and were 2000 miles apart. Good news is - Terry moved from Michigan to Idaho in late 2002 and we were married in July 2004!! Our journey only gets better every day!
  15. Hi Everyone, As you can see I'm a newbie. Hubby and I are scheduled for lapband on Aug 4 and will be staying thru the 9 to enjoy the peace and quiet. Maybe we'll meet some new friends there. Scared and excited at the same time. Getting back into my skinny clothes will be so nice! In time.......slow going so far but that could be cause I'm 52....but I will make this work!! I'm also hoping to be able to add some the kewl items everyone adds to their post. Give me time to learn that also. Each site is different and I'll catch on soon! Hope to hear from some of you. Thanks in advance for writing. Butter
