thanks everyone! This forum helped me to make the decision to have the surgery and reading everyone's experiences really got me prepared. Week one has been hell on this liquid diet, but I've been sticking to it. It almost like a drug addict going thru withdrawls. I am looking forward to when I can finally have food, but I am also apprehensive as I don't want to overdo it. One day at a time I guess!

WOO Hoo, I made it! I was newly banded today here at the Occ and the doctors and staff could not be more wonderful. All the doctors are very nice and the procedure was much easier than what I thought. I'm a little sore where the port is, but other than that I feel just fine. wOO HOO now it's time for the weight to come off!!!!

I've lost about 8 pounds, not as much as they wanted, but I'm hoping it will be ok as long as I've lost some of it.

I can relate. I checked out the financing that the OCC suggested and they wanted like 15% interest and the bank puts a $1600 processing fee on top of the loan amount BEFORE the financing. it was totally ridiculous, so I went and took the money out of my 401k to pay for the surgery, interest is only 6% and I pay myself back. When I called the finance company to tell them "no thank you" they were worried that I was going with their competitor.

Hi all, I don't know how many of you read Dr. Ortiz's book, but one of his success stories talks about this very topic. She talks about losing friends because of losing the weight. How sad! I too have told very few people because I wasn't sure how they would react. There was NO WAY I was going to tell my Mother!!! I have told a select few of my friends because I knew they would be supportive. My boys know, they are not entirely pleased with the idea, but they support me and my boyfriend is very supportive. The only person I have told in my family is one of my brothers. He too is battling a weight problem. He has been very supportive of my decision to have the surgery. I am looking forward to May 2009 when my son graduates high school and if my parents come down for it, they will have a shock. I have been very heavy most of my life and my Mother has always made me very aware of it. So it will be a nice little shock when they see me after being banded since Ocotber!! WOO HOO, I am so excited! I can not wait until Oct. 20!

thanks Julie, I already started the pre-op diet with the two shakes and a frozen dinner. It's kind of tough, I get hungry in the afternoon, but I have been drinking lots of water! Like you had mentioned, I am trying to take some of the weight off before my vacation so I won't be so pressured the week prior to the surgery. I received my surgery confirmation yesterday, so I am very excited! I only wish I had done this months ago so I could take some really good pictures in Europe.

that's great, you guys are doing so well! I really plan on following the pre-op and post-op diets to the letter! I've read about so many success stories on here that i am really excited to get going. I have about 6 weeks before my surgery. Have you experienced any side effects with the band? Pain, any discomfort?. If you can, please share all of it. I am anxious to learn everything that I can before Oct. 20.

I'm sorry, I just had to reply. I laughed so hard when I read this!! I was looking at the calendar and thinking the same thing. What if TOM comes during that week when I go for surgery, but thanks to you ladies, I can rest easy! Maybe not so easy in those nice thong disposable panties, but you know what I mean!!

well, October is right around the corner and I am so excited to be going for the surgery! I wish it were this month. I've read so many stories on here and hearing how well everyone is doing. I can't wait to join you! I wish i had done this a long time ago!

Greetings all, I am flying in on October 19th for surgery on the 20th! WOO HOO! I am so excited. I will be in Europe for 2 weeks prior to the surgery, so I will have to do my pre-op diet the week when I get back pior to surgery. That won't be fun! But it will be worth it. One of my very best friends is going with me for support, so that will be nice.
