  1. Hi all, I got banded by Ortiz in Oct 2006 and got pregnant in Feb 2007 at the same time I was hitting a plateau with my weight loss after my first fill in Nov. My OB and fill DR agreed that I could keep mine filled since it was enough to keep me from overeating yet I could still intake foods. I have only gained 9 lbs and I am 22 weeks pregnant so it seems to be working well so far
  2. I am doing very well with the band so far. I know we are not allowed to drink when we eat because I know from experience it is PAINFUL! How do you get used to it, do you ever? I used to drink every few bites and its a hard habit to break! Any suggestions? I have tried the ice cube, no fun either. Just wondering if it gets easier. Thanks Mandy
  3. We are all adults and make our own decisions. Dont you think we looked into the risks and made our decision based on our own thoughts? We have support groups and we decided that this is what we needed. You just joined today and made 1 post. Look into for 6 months or more and tell us how many cases you find other than the one you are describing. I am sorry for your friend, it is the risk we all take I hope it all comes out ok. Please, until you know more about the band and US dont leave your opinions on here. We need support not discouragement. Mandy
  4. ok, I had my fill under floroscopy and it went well...I have the VG band and he put 6 cc in and I am excited that everything is ok and I can finally start losing! I have only lost 12 lbs since this started...thanks for the responses, I was worried over nothing! Mandy PS--How do you get these tickers to work?
  5. Hi Corey, I was wondering about you. I wanted to stay longer in MX but had to rush home since my son is still an infant and it was a lot for my sister to handle alone. This may be one of my downfalls though because I had to take care of him alone while recovering, I had no choice . I wonder if all the lifting and moving broke a suture lose. I hope I am being a worry wart!!! No it was a 'blind', but you honestly cannot feel anything there, not even a little bump thats why they were concerned. Maybe its all my belly fat...hopefully the X ray will prove them wrong.
  6. I went to a Dr here in Maryland since traveling to MX is hard for me to get my first fill today 11/9. I am so upset because they couldnt find my port, they cant even feel it. They think it lost a stitch and flipped around. I am getting an x-ray on Monday. I told them I felt it really good the first few weeks then I couldnt feel it at all so they looked at each other like "yeah it flipped". The only other reason could be because I have a lot of belly fat, but I felt it prior like a rock so this sucks, may have to go back to MX, dont want to, long flight getting my sister to take the baby is a hassle too. Anyways, praying for the best...until then I am eating a huge porckchop I am soooo pissed. I will w/b soon Starting to wonder if this will EVER work..................long sigh Cher me up...tell me they are wrong...has this happened to you or a friend?? Thanks Mandy
  7. I had my surgery 10/3 and just started eating regular food Tuesday. I noticed this while on the liquid portion of the diet as well, I am noticing it more now. Whenever I eat or drink a meal I get a cramping feeling under/around my port. Is this normal? Its not painful just uncomfortable. Any thought? Thanks Mandy
  8. I have FOREVER on liquids...thought I would join the board. My surgery was 10/3 and I am even more nervous now than before the surgery. Scared it wont work mainly...trying to keep my head up, while eating popsicles :-) http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/3;1...fc32/weight.png
