  1. 10 lbs in one week is incredible!! You must feel so ecstatic with your progress! Way to go!!! =D>
  2. Thanks for all of the kind words! And yes, this is considered outpatient surgery but they keep u overnight at minimum. That actually makes me feel better. I'd be really freaked out if they sent me home the same day. Anyway - will plan to get back on the site middle of next week. I have a feeling i am going to need all the support and advice i can get.
  3. I really enjoy reading everyone's posts but can't quite figure out my way around this place. And, I'm not exactly sure what a blog is but it took me awhile to get to this point. So - with time- hope I'll get this figured out. Anyway - I am on my last day of the preop diet then tomorrow I go to liquids. Monday - my 36th birthday - I will be having my surgery. A lot of you talk about traveling to get the procedure done. My travel will consist of about a ten minute drive to our local hospital. I was able to get my insurance to cover the procedure so feel very blessed. Although the distraction of a little vacation I'm sure has it's benefits too!! I will just be so grateful when the procedure is over. I've pretty much just spent the last couple of weeks conjuring up things in my head to worry about. I worry what if my fatty liver is too 'fatty'? My surgeon said he has done 300 of these surgeries and only once was unable to perform the procedure. I have really scaled back on my caloric intake as told for the preop diet but couldn't hardly stomach those slimfast/optifast shakes. I've only lost 4 lbs. Guess at this point it's out of my hands. Wish me luck!

  5. I can really relate to how you are feeling. I have had some similar experiences with my husband in regards to being embarrassed of me etc. I feel bad enough about myself and really don't need more of anyone else's comments or lack there of to make it worse. Anyway, I am getting banded on Sept 22nd. I swore I'd never do it but at age 35 and 230 lbs - with two young children that need their mommy around for a long time - I'm taking the plunge! I am doing this for myself but am very motivated by thinking about how I want to be around to watch my girls grow up and be there to support them through all of lifes ups and downs - just the way my mom does! Anyway - hang in there! We should talk again sometime! Take care!

  7. I am scheduled for my surgery on September 22nd - my birthday! What a gift!
  8. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to send me your kind words and words of encouragement! I signed up as a new member on Saturday and posted my concerns about my upcoming surgery on the 22nd of Sept. I logged in this am and couldn't believe that so many of you took the time to be so kind and nurturing to a perfect stranger! I think my sister was right (that don't happen often) when she suggested this site to me. I really look forward to getting to know you all better!
  9. Hi I was recently scheduled for my surgery for Sept 22nd - my bday. It has taken a very long time, a denial then an appeal, a lot of weeks of uncertainty and an emotional roller coaster to get me to this pointl. I found out on friday and was happy one minute and crying and scared the next. My older sister had the surgery a year ago and highly reccommended this site as a means of support. She also felt this site would help get me excited and focused on all the positive aspects of this surgery So, that is my story. I look forward to joining your community of support. Thanks!
