  1. I am ready to make a change in my eating and exercise more. Im tired all the time and its also taking from my marriage. I dont want to do anything and the worst for my husband is my self confidence. I just need that little help doing this. I dont wnat to feel the same as now. I know its worth it if I lose slow because its better than staying how I am now or gaining even more. I get discouraged when I read that people eat the same and have no restriction. One person said after a year that they felt the same. I dont know if its because they arnt working with the band (which makes sense) or they are. I just want to know if I work with my band and eat healthier and exercise daily, will it help to eat smaller portions.
  2. Im scheduled to see Dr. Ortiz next week. I was pretty sure I wanted to get the band but now im not so sure. I have read success stories and some that have taken a while to get the weight off. I in no means am looking for a miracle and have the weight melt off in weeks/months. Id be happy with 8-10lbs a month as long as im losing. But ive also been reading people saing they finally got it and that they didnt feel restriction. That confuses me, why get the band then? if I wont have any restriction and eat the same. I am paying out of pocket and to have all that money just go to me seeing that I eat a lot which I already know then why get it? Everyone is different but I need help with portions. I have a hard time eating small portions. I eat pretty well I say but I eat a lot of it. I just dont know if I should get it now.
  3. I have not gotten banned yet. I have an appt. on the 19th to see Dr. Ortiz. I am curious about fills. How do you get them?
  4. Great, thank you. I will make sure and ask.
  5. If you get banded with Dr. Ortiz can you get fills here in the states or do I have to keep going back to TJ?
  6. Thanks so much for your advice. I will be seeing Dr. Ortiz on the 19th. Im really nervous but we'll see how it goes. Thanks so much.
  7. HI I was wondering what you needed to qualify to get the procedure done by Dr. Ortiz. I saw someone mention that you had to be at least 50lbs over weight. My insurance does pay for the procedure but they said I have to be 100lbs over weight with a BMI higher than 40 or if I had diabetes or some other medical condition it can be a BMI of 35. They didnt even see me. They said I wasnt qualified. Im 80lbs overweight, ive been heavy all my life. Ive never been a small size. Is there any way I can know before I head to TJ?
  8. Hi im wondering what a fill is? im interested in getting the lap band procedure and I keep hearing fills.
  9. Has anyones insurance covered the lap band procedure? My insurance says they do but I still cant believe it.
  10. Hi ive been interested in getting the lap band procedure for a few years now. I looked online to see if I was a candidate for the procedure before and it said I had to be over 100lbs of weight and have two medical conditions. That was a few years ago. I have been struggling with my weight all my life. I have not been under 200lbs since high school. Even when I was under I gained it back fast. I have no problem with exercising, its my eating habits that stop me from losing weight or even keeping it off. What makes you a good candidate?
