  1. I had mine done in Chicago in September, and I had 0 pain for the first two days, but that didn't stop me from hitting the morphine button once every hour or so . Just make sure to get out and walk REALLY far at a decent pace whenever you get home, for about the first 3-4 days. Helps get rid of the gas pain right away.
  2. Well, most of my friends are my age, 17 or 18 (aka the age of stupidity) so I can make up something random each time and they never notice. I just tell them I like the taste of food to last longer and it keeps you fuller alot longer if you eat slow. It's true for the most part, when we go out to eat everyone will be done. 4 hours later everyone else complains of being hungry, not I. Just make up something, and put "my nutritionist said......" in front of it, works everytime.
  3. So, I was banded Thursday, September 14th in Chicago. All together I would say the experience has been very good, the first month was pure and utter hell though. I hadn't prepared mentally for eating nothing but liquids, nor the complete diet change, and I thought I was going to die. But after the 4th week, it was fine. I haven't felt full yet, but I know when to stop eating just because I know I won't get hungry. I haven't had a fill yet (some family emergencies and other medical emergencies have come up also, sprained my right ankle, almost shattered the left, and a pinched nerve in my back), but I will be getting one in the next 3 weeks. So anyways, I go to the doctor yesterday for my ankle, and while I'm there, I decide to weigh before I leave. Mind you this has been the first weigh since the surgery. I have lost 61 pounds since September 14th, I was almost in shock. Best choice I've ever made by far.
  4. You could always try putting Ovaltine in skim or 2% milk, I do and it hasn't stopped my weight loss at all, plus it has alot of vitamins.
  5. So, I've been on solid foods for a week and a half, I feel so much better now. I was stressing like crazy only being able to eat broth and stuff. My first actual food was 2 mini breakfast burritos. My bowels weren't too happy a few hours later, but oh well.
  6. I've been eating oatmeal for the last 3 days. So happy to be off the full liquid diet.
  7. I have a question, not about the diet, but a specific food. This might sound kind of dumb, but since you're not supposed to drink before, during, and immeadiatly after meals, would that mean you shouldn't eat cereal? I've been wondering that for a while now.
  8. Havent started on solids yet, but I imagine it being something like this. Breakfast - Scrambled egg with toast. Lunch - Some kind of chicken. Dinner - Steak.
  9. Hi folks, I'm new to the forums, and didn't want to make a new thread about this. So anyways, I'm 17 and I just got banded on Sept. 14th (1 week ago today ), and I've been sticking to the diet my surgeon and dietician told me to follow, except today I had some mashed potatoes. Didn't feel any discomfort or pain, just a little full. I've decided to not do that again just for safety sake. I am eating jello/pudding though, and have been since the 4th day. Is that okay? I've talked to other patients banded by the same surgeon and my aunt who also had it done, they said they did the exact same with no problem. Should I go back to clear liquids?
