  1. Hey TG'sMom - I think I was one of the women who got banded the same day as your daughter. I did travel by myself and I made it home safe and sound! I can't say I wasn't concerned, I just didn't leave my room while I was there and I felt very comfortable and safe with the drivers. You're so right about the border patrol - holy cow! I didn't stay at the Lucerna, I stayed at the Mariott and they, too, had everything you would need. I only wanted water at first and that was just fine for me. I would have preferred to have someone with me - but I did just fine. Its such a short amount of time anyway - just stay in your hotel and don't venture out and that will make you feel even more secure. That's what I did. Good luck! TG's Mom - I hope your daughter is doing very well. She seemed so motivated and mature!
  2. I'm learning from your post and all the great replies. thank you! I also appreciate as I'm getting close to my March 9th surgery date ! This is what is making me nervous - the first few weeks after surgery. What I don't understand, is if you are on only clear liquids the first week - how do you keep from feeling absolutely lethargic since you're not eating any protien? From what I'm gathering the 7 days post op, you can eat broth (which I would think if you're eating 1-2x perday) would really make you bloated due to all the sodium. I've read gatorade is allowed - but sheesh - it just seems like nothing but water, broth, and gatorade aren't going to give you what you need. I know I will learn when I get there, what is allowed as I've read about the packet of info you get and meeting with the nutritionist. But isn't only a week of clear liquids going to make out bodies start breaking down the protien in your own muscle? How did everyone handle this first week? Besides drinking water to keep hydrated - how did you do it? What do you think was the best thing you did during that time to keep your energy up? Thank you again for all the wisdom you all are sharing!
  3. LaBella, Band Diva and Dana - thank you SO much for what you posted! I'm saving this post for reference. Its GREAT info! What are your suggestions or what did you find successful for the 21 days following the surgery? Also, how long did it take for you to begin eating the plans you posted? What was the transition time to be able to eat like this? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do during the 21 day liquid diet.
  4. I'm inspired and imagining what nsv's I want to look forward to.....speaking of Valentine's day...my dh buys me lingerie - only he doesn't realize that I don't wear it b/c he buys it too small. So I can't wait to wear some of it and actually feel like I look good in it. I also look forward to: 1. Looking good in work clothes and work-out clothes! Everything I own are neutrals and black! 2. Fitting in boots (calves too big) 3. Going down slides at the water park with my son and not feeling self-conscious. 4. Fitting better in a plane seat 5. looking great in a pair of jeans! (I'm currently a sz 18) 6. Also wouldn't mind if my ex-boyfriend saw me and was a little jealous of my husband! LOL
