  1. Hi you all, I haven't posted in a while and when I read these posts today, I just had to ask.. This realization you all got about fitting into smaller size clothes, when does it actually happen? I would love to feel that way.. is it two, three, four months post band? I was banded a month ago, have not yet had a fill, and have not lost an ounce since the first weeks of liquid only diet. I realized this past week that I could basically eat anything I try to eat, sometimes have to stop myself from eating too much.. Does this whole satisfied feelings and weight loss begin later? and why am I still able to eat everything, I mean in terms of consisterncy like bread, rice, etc.? Just cursious, Danah BTW, my first fill is in 4 days...
  2. Thanks lisa, I always enjoy your replies and encouragement! Trav, actually I had the operation in Kuwait.. My doctor has been doing these operations for about 10 years, and came highly recommended. I hope all goes well. I'm feeling funny things in my chest and face today, you guys think it could still be gas? Danah
  3. Thanks Trav and all for your advice, Angela is correct is saying that I was banded by another doctor. Actually not even in the US.. I was banded in the Middle East, which is why I have so many questions for you all on this forum. According to my doctor's instructions, I am supposed to have only water, clear broth, apple juice, crystal light, protein water, etc., and sometimes a cup of tea if I need it for the first 10 days. The next 10 days include the same as the first 10 days, but I can add SF jello, pudding, milk, and not much else. The next 10 days is when I can add soft foods, like cottage cheese, shakes, thick soups, etc... I cannot add real food until 1 month post op.. This is why I was asking you all about the Dr. Ortiz post op diet to see how it compared and if I was on the right track.. I am so 100% afraid of being one of those "Lap-Band Failures" on google, that I am trying to be stick to it. I am 5 days post op ( and yes it feels like 5 weeks), but I have only had the water, broth, and juice allowed. Again I appreciate all your responses and help
  4. Hi All, I love these types of discussions because it teaches me more about the band. I was banded 4 days ago and I think I am mentally starving. I am not sure if I misunderstood liquids. I am only taking in water, apple juice, clear broth, and sometimes a cup of tea. Are protein shakes considered liquid? They seem a little thick and I was told that liquids mean the consistency of water.. Should I be taking a protein shake or two? Maybe I would have more energy and feel full and not deprived. The road ahead is a long one I know, but I did this for a reason. Just tired of being overweight, and not being able to keep the weight off... Thanks for all the support Danah
  5. Lisa, I appreciate all your input, I do have a couple questions: 1. Are slimfast and Ensure shakes considered liquids really for the first 10 or 15 days? What if Im not taking any sort of protein shake? or supplement? 2. Can severe coughing cause the band to slip? 3. I know this is gross, but is it normal not to have a BM at all after surgery? Anyone else can jump in.. its nice to get immediate responses Danah
  6. Hi All, This is my first post and I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I will try. I got banded March 15, two days ago, and all I have been taking is water, protein water, apple juice, broth, and sometimes a cup of tea. I have to go back to work soon. Will I have enough enerygy? Is there anything else I should include in my liquid diet for the next 7 or so days to keep up! Thanks for all the encouraging thoughts.. Right now all I want to do is cry.. I don't regret the band, I don't know what I'm thinking actually.. I'm too scared to eat anything that will affect the band so that's not it, I might just still be in pain, and want to be normal again Thanks
