  1. Thank you so much!!! *whew* .... Thought I was going crazy there for a while!!! I'll keep you posted. And again - Thank you...
  2. Do you think I should be considering a complete unfill? Or just a slight unfill? I don't think anything is damaged b/c I had the esophogram during this time period where the Dr. saw the band in the x-ray / picture and said it was "perfect". (He showed me as well - Not that I would be able to tell the difference!)
  3. So I've been at my sweet spot for about 6 months with my LBS done 1 year ago. And with each month, there is probably a week to 10 days where I'm tighter then the rest of the month. But from what I've read, that's normal. So here I am going through my tight week - and it has yet to end!!! This 1 week is going on 6 weeks of tightness now. I have an appt on Tuesday to get a slight unfill, but I was wondering if anyone heard of this happening? I literally have not been able to eat any solids whatsoever. And I know that's not okay. So I've been souping it the whole time. And even then, the soup is difficult to keep in. What's strange is that I had my 1 year esophogram during that 1st week of tightness and all was fine. The liquid passed and I was given the thumbs up. I didn't make mention of the tightness at the time because I was fully expecting it to end within a few days as usual. It just didn't end this time. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  4. *ugh*.... I feel your pain sista!!!! I too have a 4cc band and have had about 5 or 6 fills since 1st being banded. More than what I had expected when I 1st started this journey. But nevertheless, I knew that this process had been successful for so many others that "my turn" was just around the corner. My last fill brought me up to 3.7cc in my 4cc band and I FREAKED OUT!!! But until now, I HAD NO RESTRICTION WHATSOEVER - NONE - NADA - ZILTCH!!! But here I am now, feeling like I am about to hit my "max", and *finally* feeling restriction. My weight loss has been agonizingly SLOW as I've only lost 15 lbs from the time I was banded 6 months ago, but I feel like I am now on the right track now and the band is doing exactly what I had hoped it would do - Help me with my portion control which has always been my downfall. Not the junk food, but plain 'ol portion control... My dr. told me that "just in case" I needed another fill, that the bands are quite capable of holding more than what they say - She called it "extra wiggle room." Meaning, the 4cc band could probably hold somewhere around 4.3cc's. So stay calm and don't worry. Try getting in the solid type of proteins like chicken, chicken salad, yogurt, cottage cheese, bean salad, tofu... Something more (but in addition to) your protein drink/shake. Step-up the solid proteins and your weight will drop down. Don't lose hope -
  5. I'm glad I came across this post... I have a 4cc band from LBS in June. In 5 1/2 months, I've only lost about 10 lbs. Yes, I am very happy that 10 lbs are gone. And they are gone FOREVER! But holy Moses!!!! At what point will this become a bit easier???? I mean this is really S-L-O-W... ( And I am honestly not stuffing my face with junk food or crap! I have 3.4cc in a 4cc band - 5 fills to date. And yes, things can get stuck more easily. Thankfully it's only happened twice. But I think I am so concerned about food getting stuck, that I am literally chewing my food to liquid form and it is just sliding into my pouch!!! And shouldn't I be concerned that I am getting too close to filling the band to capacity??? My doctor at the last visit commented that the lining around my stomach must be thinner than most. Of course my comment under my breath was that apparently that's the only thing thin on me! So here I am, hoping that my next fill (like all my previous appointments) will be THE ONE and I will have reached my sweet spot... Sorry to have rambled - I too am very frustrated and would like to finally get to the point where I feel FULL and not hungry after 3 hours.... :-?
  6. Sooooooo glad I read your post - I was just about to make the WRONG decision about whether to have some cake... My answer now? Eh, maybe some other time... Thank YOU >
  7. I have had a VERY slow loss also with starting off with a low BMI too. Had the band in beginning of June '09 and thus far, only a loss of about 10 lbs... 10 lbs in 4 months! I've had a total of 4 fills (3.1cc's in 4 cc band) and it wasn't until this last fill a week ago that I began to feel any restriction. Whether it's the "right" restriction (what is called the "sweet spot") I'm not too sure about. But at least it's something. However, you must remain positive as difficult as it is and try not to question whether having the band was the right thing for you to have done. I know that I didn't get to where I am over night. Therefore, I will not get to where I want to go over night either... *Easier* said than done, but nevertheless, truthful... Stick with it as frustrating as it is and give the band and YOU some time. In my mind, I've given myself 1 year to make significant progress in this journey - HANG IN THERE!!! >
  8. So glad you checked in to say :-h and update us all as I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wondered about you over these past few months.... And yes, V-I-C-T-O-R-Y it is woman!!!! In more ways than 1. You should be proud of yourself. As they say "Slow and steady wins the race" and your goal to a better, more healthy YOU is right around the corner. Keep at it - We're all here for each other! >
  9. So here I am 4 1/2 months since being banded, and only recently have I started to feel a slight restriction from my fills - the last one a week ago. I know everyone is different, but I have 3.1 cc's in a 4 cc band. I have only lost about 10 lbs in 4 months (yes, I know - not that much) but I am trying to convince myself that "slow & steady wins the race"... I am happy to see how the next 3-4 weeks go for me until my next appt, but I am concerned that I may be getting too close to filling the band at it's capacity. I don't want the next visit to tip me over in the other direction of not being able to get anything down & it being too tight, yet I know that at 3.1 cc's, it's still not "good" restriction - at least not right now the way I'm feeling as I can only really describe it as "slight" restriction. Any advice??? Any one else had this same concern or experience???? Does .1 cc's really make enough of a difference as I get closer to 4 cc's???? Thank you for any advice!!!
  10. how much weight have you lost?

  11. Hi Shiney! Glad to see things are going well for you!!! YAY! Where did you finally end-up going for fills? I'm moving at a SNAILS pace... Grrrrrrrrr.... I've been trekking into the city to Dr. Ren. Not the most convenient trip, but I'm happy nevertheless. I have 2.6 cc's in 3 fills. Although the 1st 2 fills I had felt something for the 1st few days immediately afterward, this last fill I felt NOTHING>>> AND I MEAN NOTHING!!! So it's been frustrating to say the least. But I'm hanging in there... I have another appt scheduled for this coming week, so hopefully I'll be closer to the "sweet spot" and feel that curbed appetite once again. Anyway, just wanted to say hi - Kim
  12. Hi Ladies - I just had my 3rd fill last week. I'm at 2.6 cc's in a 4cc band. Any restriction? Nope, nada... Since the surgery back in June, I've only lost 10 lbs. This is going by LOOOOONG & SLOOOOOW for me. It's not so much that I'm eating crappy, but more of not having that completely "satisfied & full" feeling. My portion control is a bit more tamed than what it used to be, but clearly not enough to be too significant as I'm not quite "there" yet... No question, I'm happy I'm down 10 lbs, and I'm taking my time in relearning how to approach food during this process, but I am really looking forward to hitting my sweet-spot. I've been soooo inspired by reading other people's stories, that I'm looking ahead to telling mine when I get there. I'm even considering upp'ing my next appt from 5 weeks to maybe 4 weeks. I know everyone is different, but does anyone know what the most common point in a 4cc band for hitting their sweet spot is? Kim
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Happymom!!!!!!! I'm a bit slow with the mailbox thing!!!! I just PM'd you!!!! PM me backif/when you can!
  14. I get my 2nd fill this week too. And I'm in the same boat: NO RESTRICTION WHATSOEVER!!!! It's been very difficult since I've been banded to "work" with the band since I would never even know it was there but for the small scars on my abdomen ! But I'm hoping for some small sign this week to help me along. I may not get to my "sweet spot", but a bit of restriction would be helpful to get me moving. My fingers are crossed for us both!
