  1. Hi Alice: I just finished my 21 day post op diet and could eat solids for the frist time yesterday - woo hoo! The last week was the hardest for me. In the beginning, you "think" you want to eat, but in reality, you don't. For me, I ate the broth from different soups rather than just eating plain broth because it at least had the flavor of other things. Cream soups tasted so good when I could do those. The key for me really was to stay hydrated and work through those urges for food when they came up. I never got weak, etc. I also supplemented with liquid vitamins from GNC. Melissa
  2. Hi there! I have one week to go on my 21 day post op liquid diet. I am starting to struggle. We are going to the fair this weekend and all I can think about is the food! I don't even typically eat at the fair when we go but now that I can't, its all I want to do! Does andyone have any creative ideas for getting through this last week? Thank you! Melissa
  3. Hi Andy: Hang in there! I was banded on 8/21. I am struggling with my last week of the 21 day liquid diet but I know I can get through it. I had my surgery on a Friday and I was the only one who was banded that day so it was a little tough to be all alone. Log on here for support, there are a great group of people here. You can do it!
  4. I was just banded on 8/21. I am just north of Glendale. Count me in! Melissa
  5. I had my surgery last Friday, 8/21. I was able to leave the center the next day. There was someone who had surgery the day before who went back to the hotel that same day of her surgery with her mom. Good luck!
  6. I leave for the OCC tomorrow afternoon for my surgery on Friday! I have to admit I have had last minute cold feet at times. Not about the procedure itself but about the "what ifs" after..."what if" the band slips, there are complications, etc. Silly stuff! I am committed to doing this and making this change in my life though!
  7. I live in Tujunga which is just north of Glendale. We go through Yucaipa when we go to see my in-laws who live in Palm Springs. Years ago I used to help run a leadership camp for teens up in Pilgrim Pines in the mountains there. My husband and boys are going to stay in San Dieog while I go and have the surgery. I think I will go down on a Thursday night, have the pre-op and surgery on Friday and meet back with them in San Diego on Saturday rather than staying until Sunday. I'm glad to hear you were okay to drive right after, that is something I was wondering about.
  8. Hi Red: You are absolutely right. It is like the classic, "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" although you can replace the word "thin" with "healthy" and that works too! Yes, I am getting banded on 8/21 at the OCC. I just came to the decision to go to the OCC last week so I am still in the early stages of preparing. I am a planner though so I am trying to do all my research so I know what to expect, as much as you can without knowing exactly how your own body will react. I feel very comfortable with my decision to get the surgery at the OCC as opposed to where I was going to go here. Everyone seems to have had such a psoitive experience with the procedure itself that I really don't have any reservations about that part at all. Thanks for your support and the information you have shared, I really appreciate it.
  9. Thank you very much that was really good information. I'm excited for the potential results from getting the band and I know it is going to take work and effort but these side effects sound scary! Melissa
  10. Hi! Sorry to sound so ignorant but I am new here. My surgery is scheduled for 8/21. I am reading posts to get more of an idea what to expect. Can you tell me what happens when food gets "stuck" as I've seen several posts about? Do you just feel like it will not go down? What do you do when that happens?
  11. I'm new here, just starting the whole process. I am scheduled for my surgery on 8/21. I am looking forward to getting the procedure and starting this new way of life! Does anyone have any input on the two hotel choices, pros and cons from your experiences? Just curious!
