  1. For those of you who are reading this, and are unsure about choosing OCC for your Lap Band Surgery, here are my experiences so far. First let me tell you that I am a Dentist, and know my way around health care, health care providers and surgery. I decided to have Lap Band surgery due to the non-invasive laparoscopic method used, and the fact that it is reversible. I called a friend who had the procedure about a year ago, and she spoke very highly of OCC and Dr. Ortiz. My initial reaction was great surprise when she told me she had it done in Tijuana, Mexico. After extensive research I decided that Dr. Ortiz and OCC was the best place in the world to have this procedure performed. My surgery was on October 22nd. We were picked up at the airport and driven to the Marriott which by the way is very nice. The next morning we were driven to the clinic, I was seen by a Cardiologist, had a session with the nutritionist, an IV was started, and had blood drawn for pre-op testing. I was wheeled into the OR, met the Anesthesiologist, and the next thing I knew I was back in my room. My wife tells me all the Doctors were in to see me right after surgery, I was a little groggy and don't remember. I stayed in the clinic overnight. The care was excellent, a doctor and nurse were right there, and I was driven back to the hotel in the morning. Since I am home I have been on the post-op diet, not my favorite, but essential for healing. They also took care of my hiatal hernia during the surgery. I have had some gas pains, and some pain from the hernia procedure. I have called several times regarding the pain, and both Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez answered their cell phones, and Dr. Ortiz called me yesterday to see how I was feeling. I don't think that kind of care and caring is available in the U.S. As you can tell, I highly recommend OCC for the Lap Band procedure, and Tijuana is fine, reminds me of Miami. Please feel free to contact me at skatz260@embarqmail.com if you would like to ask me about my experience with the band , Dr. Ortiz, or OCC. Dr. Steve Katz The Villages, Florida
  2. I was banded Thursday 10/22. I'm feeling fine, no pain. The Marriott is nice and comfortable, and Tijuana is fine if anyone is worried about coming to Mexico. I was not disappointed in any way. The facility is wonderful, every single person was excellent in what they did, and couldn't have been nicer. Everything was explained to me, and all my questions were answered. I was the only patient that day, and they could have released me and sent me back to the hotel. Instead, they gave me the choice and I elected to stay the night. The care I received from the doctors and nurse was outstanding, much better than it would have been in the U.S.
  3. My surgery is scheduled for the end of October. I have ordered Optifast 800 just to taste it. I am a choclaholic so of course I ordered chocolate. It tasted just ok. They also sent me a sample of Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement which tasted better. I also ordered Optifast 800 bars. I liked the sample of the Bariatric Advantage Control bars better. I would like some suggestions about other alternatives you may have tried. I know I will have to find something that I like since I will be needing it for both before and after surgery. Also, I'm not big on measuring or counting calories. If that's you, and you have been successful in losing weight, I would like to hear about it.
  4. Does the Lucerna have high speed internet in your room?
