  1. I have a band and it's okay I guess. I don't treat it the way I should. I was just curious if anyone had the band and went and to the bypass and how that worked out for them. I have heard of the reverse, but am curious about bypass. Totally just curious!
  2. I had 4ccs on my first fill and then got 2 or 3 more my second fill...I still don't feel restriction so I have another appt (not in TJ) on Monday!
  3. I went to TJ by myself and felt completely safe. Of course, I was nervous, but once the driver picked me up and took me to the hotel I was fine! I met a couple there and we went shopping the day after surgery! I lost about 25 pounds, but am still trying to lose more - I have about 50 more to lose, but I have only had 2 fills and my band is still very loose! I would recommend it to anyone! The staff was super and the place is immaculate! Go for it! I will say, since I haven't found the right fill, I am able to eat anything, the band doesn't keep me from eating bread and stuff like other people, BUT I do get full faster and stay full longer! Once I get the right amount of fill I'm sure I'll lose more! I lost 25 and then stopped, but I haven't gained anything so I can't complain! I have a fill appointment here in Houston (25$ covered by insurance) on Monday so that will help! I was worried about finding a fill place, and I did pay 200$ for my first fill and then I called a doctor here and found one that called my insurance and found out for me that my insurance would pay and all I had to pay was copay! I wasn't sure I'd find anything like that since I got my surgery in Mexico, but once I actually looked it wasn't a problem...that's another thing to think about!! Good luck!
  4. I'm glad you all like it...I just wanted people thinking about the surgery to have an idea of the placement/size of the incision/scar sites...it's been about 7 weeks now and it already looks better - and honestly I don't think it looks too bad the day after!!
  5. Hey y'all!! I haven't gotten a fill yet (should get one under fluoro on 12/12) but I'm just curious if it's possible to stretch my pouch before I get a fill...or if I even have a 'pouch' yet for that matter! I don't over eat, I haven't had any problems with ANYTHING going down...sometimes I just feel REALLY full! For instance, tonight I had a half of a mexican salad for dinner and an hour later I drank my water...it's when I drink that I feel super duper full! So anyway, please let me know! I hope I'm being paranoid about stretching anything but you all know how it feels to wonder and worry!! Thanks soooo much!!

  7. Thanks! You too!! Now the hard part is staying away from all the food!!!! I told myself turkey and veggies...we will see how that works out!
  8. You know you're a bandster when a Lean Cuisine fills you up and isn't just a tease to make you hungrier!!
  9. I know everyone is different, but me and the girl that had surgery the same day didn't feel that bad! I would call the OCC (or your doc) immediately!! I'd want to hear something straight from the horses mouth since everyone is so different and they know your body better than us!! Hope you feel better!
  10. Try to add some ice and put it in the blender!! It will make it a little filling and like a milkshake!! You can do it!!
  11. sooo Monday is the big day!!! I'll be thinking about you!! You better update us all -there are computers at OCC so you can't get out of it!! :)

  16. I hate to say I told you so!! hahaha!! I'm so glad your surgery went well! Isn't it weird how you know you had surgery, but it doesn't really seem like it - other than being sore!! After about 2 weeks my soreness went away completely!! I was still a little teeny tiny bit sore in the port area, but I had to move a certain way to feel the soreness!! Yay for you! Now I have my first fill to look forward to and report on of course!!!
  17. thanks for the message girl!!

  18. I know and I do think we should try counseling...I'm just sooo hurt! He knows that I've struggled forever, he knows how I feel about my weight and he still said that to me... It would be different if he tried to encourage me, but he doesn't... All he says is 'you know how I feel about weight, I've told you from the beginning how I felt about it' . I guess my ego/feelings are so bruised that it's hard for me to get past the hurt...but you're right, I should be happy that it's MY couch he comes home to! Thanks again! Makes me feel better automatically to know that everyone else's marriage isn't perfect and we're the only ones having problems! Thank you so much!!
  19. Thank you all sooo much! We talked last night and he said he would 'try to be nice to me and be more affectionate'....so we'll see how that goes. I think we should give couples therapy a shot and then after that - if things aren't better...it may be time to cut my losses and move on. I just never wanted my son to have to go back and forth between us...being away from him will kill me! You are all so sweet for listening to my story and sharing yours as well! I truly, from the bottom of my heart appreciate it! *and I will find 'Not Easily Broken' and watch it!
  20. okay, if you're not ready to read tmi and feel sorry for a woman who is so desperate for advice that she's asking an online forum....then move on! I thought you ladies would understand because probably you all have always struggled with your weight the same way I have...so when someone you love does something like this, you have to know how bad I'm hurt! okay, here goes, my husband and I have been together almost 4 years (married 2 in Jan, 16 month old son?). Anyway, here's the tmi part...we hardly ever have sex - like the last time was probably 2+ months ago...I want it - he doesn't... Anyway, when my husband and Imet, I was pretty thin and cute but when I had my son I ballooned and have had the hardest time getting it off - hence the band...which he doesn't undertand but whatever... just eat right and go to the gym is what he says. Anyway, we've had this discussion before, but we had it again tonight and he basically said he's not attracted to me and if we didn't have kids he doesn't see himself married to me... wow... i know. So, I'm not sure how I feel about it... one part of me wants to tellhim to f-off and move on with my life and my son and go be happy somewhere else...and when I DO lose the weight rub it in his face... But another part of me gets it...I don't look the same... but he is not supportive of me losing...he doesn't do anything to help me or doesn't give me kind words to motivate me...nothing...he just comes home from work and sits on the couch... Anyway, I guess I'm half venting and half asking for some advice... my husband knows how much the topic hurts me...he knows that i've struggled my entire life... can he really be that shallow? men, maybe you could help me out too... Thanks for listening!
  21. Hey girl!! Did you post the recipe for the ever elusive tomato pie?? :)

  22. yoo hoo!! I'm almost 3 weeks out and feeling great!! I can't wait to hear about your experience when you get your band!!

  23. What is this tomato pie you speak of??????
  24. I had surgery on Monday and didn't go back until Monday (that was planned)...BUT I could have gone back to work on the Thursday that I arrived back home. I didn't have any of the gas pains or anything like that...I don't have a high tolerance for pain so it's not that I'm tough...I think I just got lucky or something because I didn't even feel like I really had surgery. I was sore in the port area, but it just felt like I had a really good ab workout. In fact, I have been in more pain due to a workout than I was because of the surgery! Good luck!!
