  1. You are doing fantastic! I have found the best exercise support at work. My man, although supportive, is not into the hardcore cardio I need. So, I take classes at my gym with my co-workers. I find them, my co-workers and the classes, the most motivating. I make my meals at the beginning of the week and throw them in the freezer so there is no thinking or trips to the cafeteria. I think that sometimes the support system you need is not necessarily where you think you should find it at the beginning of this process. But if anything know that you have plenty of support here from your fellow bandsters. We are here for you because we all want you to succeed as much as we want and need ourselves to succeed.
  2. I go see a therapist who specialises in emotional eating. Talking to her has helped a whole bunch.
  3. The inches really start to mean more sometimes than the scale. Not to worry! All that you need to know is that those poounds are NEVER coming back! You are winning!
  4. I think it is just a tool. Like a hammer or a drill. Sure you can bang things in using a shoe, or screw things in with a butter knife, but things are just so much better and faster with a drill or a hammer. It is all about the right tool for the job. It is 50 pounds that I will never have on my body ever again. The band is quite restrictive. I can eat half or less than what I used to without feeling hungry or deprived (ex. half a sandwich, one small piece of pizza, quarter of a noodle bowl, or one small chicken breast with nothing else on the side). The exercise is just a reality of weight loss. This isn't magic. However, now I have the energy to work out at lunch in a high intensity cardio class, go back too work, then go out and play 9 holes of golf before sunset. Before I was dragging my butt by 3:30 in the afternoon and plopped myself on the couch until I went to bed. As for the exercise, I was always more interested in looking like Wonder Woman than Kate Moss. Bottom line is you just can't eat very much and you have the energy and motivation to exercise more. Good Luck!
  5. I have lost 50 lbs since December 09. I am about half way through my journey I think... we shall see. This has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and my future. Just one thing to remember, this is still hard work. I work out 4 times a week in the gym, and join any activity I can, and am very careful with what I put in my mouth. I think as long as you are dedicated to your success, and you really honestly want this for yourself. You are ready. The OCC is the place to do it as well. It is the cleanest clinic out there. The nurses are sweet like candy. Dr.Ortiz is fantastic! You won't regret your decision once you make it. You can do it!
  6. Cardio Pump is going to kill me...

  7. I felt really listless and not hungry at all. I think it is pretty normal. two weeks out I started to get hungry again. I think it is just the period of adjustment your body goes through. That's just my opinion though. Just keep hydrated. Sip sip sip!
  8. Hahahaa. Cute status. And congrats, hon! Good job!

  9. I got banded at the OCC, but no luck on the reimbursement. It also doesn't seem to be tax deductable. However it was still the best thing I have ever done for myself. Fills are pretty good here in Calgary. Went and got my third yesterday.
  10. Dr. Burke at the Lefevre Clinic on Southport Road does them. She is really nice and she doesn't use the cannon that they tend to use in TJ. Dr.Burke Peggy ‎995-10655 Southport Road Southwest, Calgary, AB T2W 4Y1(403) 278-3411‎ I believe that she is at a conference in the next fw eeks, but give them a call. I got an appointment for the day after called, and it was $100 cash. They don'have any weird hang ups about your having your surgery in Mexico either.
  11. GOOD JOB - CONGRATS!

  12. Not that it is easy to do, but yeah... stay out of the kitchen if you can! Although I did hear... not that you should ever do this, that some people were doing a chew and spit thing. I say keep your eye on the prize! You can do it! We all can! Plus I have a picture of Dr. Ortiz in my cupboard. That helped quite a bit.... He keeps an eye on me. What Would Dr.O Say?
  13. Heya Tangerine. Just buy one set of groceries. :D

  14. I am just at the start of this journey and I was a bit frustrated about how slow things have been since I started eating solids, but then I thought.... well at least the scale is going in the right direction and I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in 2 years. That is always going to be a win! Hooray band!
