  1. It's been awhile since I've been on this site, but I'm happy to say that Ive been banded for 4 years and 2 months and have lost 90lbs and still losing about 2lbs a month!! Im so happy with the decision i made 4 years ago as it was truly life changing. It is for sure not the "easy" way out either as it is a daily conscious choice of foods we put in out bodies and physical activity we partake in. I have had plateaus over the past 4 years but somehow I start losing...

  2. So frustrated, haven't lost any weight since June 2011... I'm a little over half way to goal, but still have a ways to go!! Anyone else have this problem and overcome it??

Yep, change up your eating and exercise program - surprise your body. I would have to "ramp" it up from time to time to get it moving again. Try crossfit - if you're not on groupon get on it, its online and you can get exercise classes cheap - I always use it and change up my exercise mode from time to time. Change the times you eat and focus on clean protein - start every morning with a large glass of water with one lemon juice in it. Good luck!

I have the same, I believe changing things will help. I'm hoping, I lost 2 lbs finally last week.

  3. Got another fill on 5/25/11 due to a plateau I have hit......My goal is to exercise, eat lots of protein, and lose 20lbs by 4th of July!!!

  4. I went to Dr. Malley initially before I found out my insurance wouldn't cover lapband. I paid for a consultation with him out of pocket which in turn he billed to my insurance and they pd for that. I ended up going to Dr. Ortiz because of the expense, and when I returned Dr.Malley's office stated they would not see me because I had a consultation with him but didn't use him. So I was pretty upset with that. On a positive note though, I go to the More of Life Weight Loss Surgical Center in Overland Park, KS. They have a PA there "Mitch", and he is AWESOME!!!! I do my fills under fluoroscopy and they bill my insurance. My insurance will not pay for the actual fill part, but they pay a portion of the fluoroscopy and my office visit fee. I know cash patients get fills under fluoroscopy for I believe $150. So just wanted to throw that out there in case you ever decide you aren't happy with the Malley office. Also, the have another center at the Independence Center in Independence, MO. Good luck with everything!!! Angela
  5. I'm so happy today!!! I have lost 53.5lbs and am officially at my halfway mark!!!!

  6. Every morning when I wake up "and sometimes in the middle of the night) my stomach is burning (like acid reflux) and growling like crazy! does this happen to anyone else?

Hi, when were you banded? I definitely had that in the beginning, the banding hell phase. but maybe you need an bit of an unfill if you are having acid reflux, that's a big sign of needing some taken out.

I was banded 7/30/2010...i kinda think it happens in the wee hours of the morning when my band is extra tight. I found that if i sleep a little elevated it helps...also ice water helps. my fill doctor said everything looks great with the band. just wish this burning would go away!! grr

  7. I must motivate myself to exercise!!!!!!! Weightloss has slowed a bit so time to do something about it!!

  8. 2 lbs away from my halfway mark!!! I'm so excited, but worried about Valentine's weekend...hubby and I have a date to a very fattening restaurant!!

Very true Ashley!! Im just so used to the old me that would eat out and be up 5 pounds the next day!! Its so hard to get out of thinking the way I did before and to allow myself to see my new body transforming. If it werent for the numbers on the scale moving down I would swear I looked the same as i did 51 pounds ago!!

Even if that did happen all you have to do is get back on track. I will be banded 2 years next month. It happens, we can put on a few pounds, but you just have to bounce right back and get back on track.

Isn't that the best feeling?! I was excited last week when my husband and I went to the movies and I didn't have to sit sideways to fit!! I was able to sit without my hips touching the arms of the seat!!
