  1. I mostly watch carbs but Last time I checked it was about 1000-1200 a day.
  2. Congrats!!!!! Good luck with the surgery!
  3. I was banded this past october and I have no regrets. You can read my story in my blog if that will help.
  4. yeah, i am keeping the ater bottle by me and just having to remind myslef to keep sipping all day. For breakfast this morning I tried a scrambled egg and um...no, that did not work. I guess I will stick to the shakes for breakfast.
  5. I do mini goals and mini rewards too. I am currently sporting my new purse for 30 lbs! My big goal reward will be body repair. What ever surgeries I need to fix the damage that being fat has done to it.
  6. I just got my second fill and finally understand what everyone is talking about on restriction and having to eat slowly and not being able to eat certain things. I have discovered that I am really tight in the morning and I am wondering what you guys do for breakfast. I was thinking of a shake but I don't know if a liquid breakfast would keep me full for 3-4 hours. Also, I have been drinking my water by gulping it down to get it out of the way......not anymore. How do you manage to get 60+ oz of water in if you are sipping it and not for 30 min before or after eating. Oh and one more.... I do breakfast at 6 am so by 10 am I am starving but lunch is still an hour off. I know that we are not supposed to snack but what do you do in this situation?
  7. I got my second fill this past weekend and I am now at 5.5cc in the 11 cc band. I have a good restriction and am having to focus a lot more on chewing and slowing down. I am hoping this fill helps!
  8. I was also told that it is a third of what you could eat before surgery. There is a great sticky thread under fills from Dolittle about how to get a good fill and it also speaks about what a good fill should be like. I would suggest looking at that.
  9. Same thing here. We felt nothing but safe in TJ. We went sight seeing and had a blast. Just use common sense and have fun.
  10. I am going in for my second fill this weekend! I hope it helps with the 3 pound roller coaster I seem to be on.

  11. Have you tried fill centers USA? They have centers all over the country and I love the one I use. The price is good, they are not haters on mexico bandsters and have some centers with flouro. Fill centers
  12. I am at 4 cc in my 11cc realize band. I am going in next weekend for a second fill.
  13. How are you holding up?

  14. CONGRATS!!!!!! I know you have been working hard for this and I am glad that you had a great experience. It's a new life and a new year for you!
  15. Had my first fill this weekend. 4cc! They tried 5 but the water did not go down so we had to take out 1 cc.

  16. I actually started to gain weight on the liquids. I discovered that the soups had a lot more carbs than the shakes and I can only guess that it did not help. Once I got on solids I lost the extra weight and have been losing about a pound a week since. I have my first fill tomorrow so I am hoping that will help too.
  17. How are you holding up, lucy? I actually cheated a little on my post op too. mashed potatoes and even a little bit of chicken. It is so hard. We are overweight for a reason and the mental part of needing to eat doesn't go away just because a piece of plastic is around your stomach. Let me know if you need to talk or vent. my blog fatgirlontheoutside.blogspot.com

  18. I was banded a week later. I am losing about a pound a week now. I am excited that I am getting my first fill on saturday and I hope that it helps with restriction and not being hungry as often. The biggest thing I have noticed is how little I "listened" to my body before the surgery. I am so paranoid of messing up my shot at being healthy that I actually stop eating when I am satisfied instead of when I am so full it hurts. I have only BP'd one time and I am proud of that and it was just as Dr Miranda said it would happen too...when I was eating and doing something else at the same time. Wow, the pain alone was enough to teach me to keep slowing it down. I am down 35 pounds but 28 of that was before the surgery. I actually gained wait on the creamy phase but as soon as I switched over to the real food I started losing weight again. It was really weird. I thought that I would lose weight while on the liquids but I guess we are all different.
  19. Have you called Dr Ortiz? Maybe the clinic could give you some advice. I hope that everything works out.
  20. New mini goal: To be 299 in January!

  21. I copied this from dolittle's post about how to get the most out of a fill. 14. Learn to recognize your "soft stop" sign. Common ones are chest tightness or "fullness", a sudden runny nose, a single hiccup or burp, an eye twitch, back pain, left should pain. All mean the pouch is full enough and we should stop eating, even spitting out the bite that may be already in our mouths. If you do not, you could progress to the "hard stop" - slimming, pb, barfing. I am just curious because I am trying to learn how to listen to my body more and my mind less.
  22. Have you discovered your "soft Stop" and if so what is it?
  23. I went to the OCC last month for my band and we did not have any problems. I agree with the previous posters that as long as you are careful and pay attention to what is going on you should be fine. We only went out during the day and took a taxi if it was further than a few blocks from the hotel. We had a great time and the only reason I am getting my fill next month at a center is because I can't afford to fly back out to TJ. Good luck!
  24. We left on a saturday morning and it took 2.5 hours and our driver said that it doesn't make much difference on what day it always takes a long time.
