  1. Congratulations to both of you. I had it done on 10/21 and wonder now why I didn't do it years ago. SO SIMPLE...NOT REALLY ANY PAIN (besides those crazy gas pains)...no hunger....fine on energy and sleep. It's been 3.5 weeks since mine and I feel great, just crossed over into the 'mushie' food phase...have lost 20 pounds. WOO HOO. You should be getting soooooooooo excited. Your world is about to change.
  2. My direct email is johnna.murray@hotmail.com. would prefer if we could chat on Friday or Monday. Thursday I;ve got a crazy schedule. Friday I could do 9am (EST)---probably in the middle of night for you or Monday the 15th at 4pm (EST). My direct line is 843-202-6968. And I have not had any nausea, vomiting, etc.
  3. hey there! I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. I had it done on 10/21. This Friday I get to start on my mushie foods. You can email me a long list of questions, thoughts, etc and I'm happy to answer them one by one. Or if you'd prefer we can arrange a time for you to ring me and we can chat. Hvae a good evening.
  4. Thanks for sharing. I only get down one 20 ounce bottle a day and drink 3 protein shakes daily. I have a little broth, a sugar/fat free popsicle here and there and creamy fat free soup occasionally. I've felt great for the last week. When I read the title of your post, my mind immediately went to beer and wine! HA
  5. Two weeks post-surgery. Doing great. No hunger. Diet consists of 3 protein shakes a day, water and vitamin enhanced water, sugar free clear beverages, broth, and creamy fat free soups (no chunks) 3 times a week. This is so flipping simple and NO side effects or sickness thus far! Heart burn gone, headaches gone, sleeping peacefully, plenty of energy, losing about half a pound to a pound per day. Down 15 lbs from pre-op.
  6. The first 5-6 days were a bit rough but mostly just the gas pains---sharp sometime almost like contractions in your back and chest. After day 6 or 7, it's golden. Not hungry...energy...just fine. My plane ride was almost 5 hours so that in and of itself was terrible. I won't kid you---the day of surgery and the next 1-2 days are pretty uncomfortable...but it passes soon enough!! So excit4ed for you....YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!
  7. well, I can't speak to anyone else and who should opt for what procedure BUT I'm so so so glad that I changed my mind at the last second and went with the plication procedure. It is totally reversible...no cuts....or things removed....my stomach is just pretty much tapered/hemmed up an sutured into place so that the "open" portion of my stomach is a fraction of what it used to be. I don't have to go for any adjustments, fills, or other doctor appointments. I've lost 12 pounds in 10 days. No real hunger...no cravings...plenty of energy....very pleased. Do your research before you go there...call one of the surgeons....make sure you make the right choice. I was all scheduled for Band but changed and did Plication a mere 2 hours before my surgery. If my best friend or family member was going to have a WLS done, I would tell them do the Plication---NO DOUBT.
  8. I just had the procedure done on October 21st and am doing well. Wanted to check in with other recent patients to see how they are doing and what options they ate, any ideas they have on the "mushies" and general well-being. Any headaches?
  9. Lori, Will you please ask someone if on the forum page, if they can add another category in addition to the lapband, sleeves, teenagers, etc.---add one for Plication so that we all have one place to go. Thanks!!!!
  10. Hey there and congratulations!!! I had my surgery done last Thursday 10/21. I, too, was scheduled for LapBand and I switched the day of surgery to Plication as you indicated many others did on your day of surgery. Everyone scheduled on my day switched to plication, too. THe #1 thing I wanted from my surgery (besides weight loss, of course) was for it to be reversible. Plication gave me that. Additionally, I do not have to go to any more doctors...no additional $$s for fills, no trying to find the right cc level (which I was nervous about), no bandster hell, no chance of band slippage or port problems. Actually, the plication procedure has started in Louisiana and a couple of other states. It was featured here on the local news channel just day before yesterday. I did pause when I was told about it and think it is SUCH A GREAT IDEA that you have shared your post with others pre-trip so that they can do the proper research. Also, if anyone from the OCC is reading this, I was thinking this week that they should so shoot a mass email out to all scheduled surgeries for the next month or so to inform people of this other procedure. It would have been great to have been fully educated prior to the date. But SO happy I chose Plication....and on Day 6, I'm feeling great! and yes, the first 2 days post-surgery are more difficult than the band.
  11. Okay all you bandsters out there!!! I arrive in Mexico on Wednesday and scheduled for band on Thursday. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. What can you tell me about the first few days and first month post-op. Will I be hungry? Light-headed? Did you all lost weight initially? I have about 80-90 lbs to love.

One thing I felt, on my way flying home, I was tired, and I didn't check my luggage, trying to save the hassel and the 20$, but I wished I didn't have to roll the thing around, and pick it up to the overhead, etc. I packed light, but to tell you the truth I considered ditching the clothes I brought, I was afraid airport security would come after me. LOL. the clear liquids was the hardes week for me. the isopure koolaid stuff is expensive but you are still getting protein. I also ...

I didn't have any problems and I wasn't too hungry. My best friend and I made a small vacation out of it and she was always concerned that she was eating in fron of me. I had to constantly reassure her I wasn't hungry. I did have a wicked bruise though. It was big and ugly and purple. That scared me a little dbut it didn't hurt. All people are

different , some bruise, some don't. I have a high tolerance for pain so I felt none of the things some other people felt. If...

  12. Me too! Take care.

  13. HEY THERE!!! I'm having surgery that day, too. Have you started your pre-op diet? Are you starving? I get in the eve before with a friend. I'm excited too! Where are you from?

  14. Thanks Y'all...hopefully I'll be blessed like you both and not have any real issues!!
  15. I'm scheduled for lapband in October and have been hearing about this term "Bandster Hell". It sounds as is there is little to no restriction, still hunger, no weight loss etc. Can anyone touch on this? Do you generally lose weight between the operation and the first fill? If so, is it moderate weight loss? I can handle about anything as long as I know what to expect. Thanks!
  16. OKay so you've had the band about 10 days now, right? Are you hungry? Weak? How long did it take until you were back at work and normal activities?

  17. I'm scheduled for LapBand on October 21. Very excited....but nervous, too. Flying in on the 20th and out on the 23rd. OMG!!! Can't believe it!
  18. So, when did you get your band? HOw was it? I just scheduled mine for October 21. I'm kinda nervous. Are you starving? Weak? Sore? Or are you just super excited? Fill me in on your experience, please.
