  1. Hi LV426, I understand your concerns about Mexico and I had that feeling until I started visiting Mexico about once a month, I live in san diego also. I've gotten to the point of just driving across whenever I need to see the Dr. I say do your research, talk with the Dr's visit the hospital. Make sure you know all the risk that are involved, I guess I'm an exception to the rule. I don't want to scare you but I've had difficulties with the band and that's only becuz my body does not like this foreign object inside. With the difficulties would I do it all over again YES... Oh and after 4months i've lost 30lbs and i'm not "starving" myself and i've never kept it off this long before in my life. To date i've had another surgery to move the port to the other side of my abdomen. I would have lost more if me and my "baby" (the port) weren't fighting so much. Oh should I mention that your health is more important than the $$$ for these Dr's. How many of your Dr's do you have their cell phone numbers? Can call them anytime you are in need? If there is anything I can do plez let me know. (talk with, travel with etc) Blessing to you and yours
  2. Hello, I was wondering if you feel swollen at the port or even warmer than normal on that spot vs the other side. I've been dealing with a port issue. Not infection but the body fighting the port.
  3. Hi everyone, I could use some support. As most of you know my body is fighting the port, the band is fine but the hassal of the port draining sometimes get to me. I had a fill and the next day the needle mark was suppose to be gone but it left a sore spot and later that small needle mark opened up and was draining just like the inceision. I feel as though I need to get another fill but becuz of the needle I don't want another hole. The first one has closed up but left a knott and I just don't want to go thru pain anymore. I'm about 1 out of 800 that will have this inflammation and DR O and DR M are great thru all of this. I'm thankful for the 30lbs lost but it seems that I'm not making anymore strides
  4. Hello Captainsg I was banded in june and I guess I'm a problem child that's why i'm called frequent flyer. My body is fighting the port and in sept. I had to have it moved to the other side and replaced. (just to be safe) To date i've lost 30lbs but I seem to gain 3 but lose it again and have had 1 fill. I'm sure I could use another one but again I must stress that the band works it's just my body. I have what they call a seroma cavity of fluid surronding the port due to inflammation but Dr O and Dr M are great thru this entire ordeal. The entire staff is great and since I seem to spend almost everyother saturday in TJ it's now my second home. I live in San Diego.. I know several women who have had the gastric bypass and for a lack of better words they look guant. I just didn' t want to go thru all that they have gone thru..Again I feel the band is great regardless of the trials that I go thru it was worth the numbers decreasing with my diabetes.. Much success to you frequentflyer
  5. Hi Jeo, Welcome and congrats!!!! I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago. I describe the tighting just like a blood pressure cuff.. A needle filled with saline is inserted into the port in your bellyyy..( doesn't really hurt ) then it travels up the tube and into the band which fills up.. Blood pressure cuff...pump the air into the tube and the cuff tightens. You will drink a drink a liquid (can't remember correct name) and the Dr will watch it flow on the x-ray machine and hopfully you can too. The saline solution can be added or subtracted depending on you. Basically that's it... I hope that helps frequent flyer
  6. Hi Veronica, It's a possibility that becuz of the band air does not flow up and down thru the stomach normally. It now mostly flows downward which helps produce the gas. If you notice you don't burp as frequently or without as much gusto when you drink alot of liquids.. hope this helps frequentflyer
