You're lucky. I wasn't a sweets fan before but am constantly craving them now.

I am hoping this happens to me also. Sweets are my worst enemy!

  3. Hi KDH How are you doing since your surgery?
  4. I have also lost money when I originally booked at theh Hospital Angeles. I went there hoping to have surgery between May 4th and May 6th. They booked me and I gave a $725 deposit. They called me a couple days later after I had my flight booked and canceled my surgery stating that the surgeon would be at a conference. She apologized that the booking office was not communicating well with Health Travel Guides and wanted me to rebook. I was devastated and luckily was able to cancel my flight without penalty (the flight was $1600 for 2 people). I asked for my deposit back and they stated that there is no refund and that I have a year to have the surgery. I was not impressed with the situation. I paid my deposit based on the availability of the date. It was the best date for my companion to travel. I have asked repeatedly to speak to someone about returning my deposit and Health Travel GUides was supposed to have someone from Hospital Angeles contact me. I have not spoken to them since April and no one ever called me back. I cannot believe thay they can make such a booking blunder and enforce their no return policy! I do not fault the surgeon but Health Travel Guides. I have since had surgery at OCC and was very impressed with the facility, their business practice and clear refund policy.
  5. I wondered that myself Donna.. I knew they could remove the sutures and maybe even adhere the stomach in place but I wondered if there would be some malformation of the stomach .. you know like the feet of some chinese women whose feet are deformed from shoes too tight? I don't think there are any reversals as yet. So as far as I know (in the information I have read)they can only speculate.
  6. I am not sure where you are from but I just had surgery less than 2 weeks ago in Mexico with Dr Ortiz and I am from Canada. It went very well. I had hte gastric Plication mainly because I didn't want to deal with fills for the band. If you have any questions I would be happy to share what I know.
  7. Thank you for the tips. I am still consuming only liquids after gastric plication but soon will have food to contend with. I will keep checking back on the strategies as reminders..
  8. Hi Karen. I am thinking of you.. How are you? are you staying in Tj another day? are you recovering well? drinking anything?

Send me a message when you are home and when you are up to it maybe we can meet for a coffee/ tea..

  9. I flew out of Moncton but I am also from Fredericton.. You will not be disappointed with the clinic or the entire medical team.. they were all great.
  10. Well I had my surgery. I had to stay one extra night at OCC due to vomiting but then since I have had no nausea. I am not hungry like I uised to be and am satisfied with small amounts as well. I think I am still swollen though and liquids go down slowly right now. If I take a regular gulp ( more than a tablespoon I have to wait until the feeling of "something caught" goes away. Unfortunately the flight back home was canceled in New York and we had to spend a night in Newark and then take 2 more flights the next night instead of a direct 2 hour flight from Newark to the east coast of Canada. Spending this time in the airport and hotel was difficult but I managed by finding a place that served soup and just asked for the broth of the chicken noodle soup and I bought water and juices. I dont know how I will ever get enough water in! It seemed I was sipping almost all the time. Today I started YOP. I have to say that even though I dont crave the sweets I used to I did want something chocolate so I had coffee with a chocolate flavor shot.. Probably not the best choice but I was stranded in an airport and I just wanted to be home.. I am finally home 5 days after the surgery. I find I look bigger than before due to my abdomen being swollen and my breath today is bad. Is this common?
  11. Hi Katie.. congratulations.. I am looking forward to changing my life and yet I am nervous about a few things. one thing that concerns me is my long trip home ( 11 hours) and of course the risk of clots. Did you have far to travel after surgery? Did you have any issues with vomiting? I read that since there is no cutting away of the stomach that the hormone ghrelin is still produced just as much and your hunger is not satisfied. Do you have insatiable hunger issues?
  12. I am concerned about the same thing. I have 2 short layovers but approximately 8 hours in the air. It will be a 12 hour return to eastern Canada. I am sure it will be a long difficult day. I have looked at a variety of articles which give tips to reduce risk of DVT.Walking every 15-30 minutes when possible, Drinking water at regular intervals, walking briskly at the airport during a layover. these are just a couple I remember but I plan on looking into this further.
  13. I am scheduled May 12th. I am excited and nervous but ready and eager to change my life. I am first to post here for May surgeries but I am hoping to get some advice from anyone who has had the surgery.
