I was banded in August. There was some definite port discomfort for the first ~2 weeks while I was still swollen. Everytime I would sit down the port would jab into my abdominal wall, but after the swelling went down the pain went away. I never was able to feel the band, but I was able to tell that something foreign was in my body.

Hi everyone, my name is Amber. I am 23 and am looking into having the Lap Band put on in May. I am not overweight enough to have the surgery done in the US, so I am looking for alternative options. I have, for obvious reasons, concerns about getting an operation in TJ. For those of you who have already been through this, how was it? How were the facilities? How quickly did you recover? Any infections? How was the staff...friendly, helpful, knowledgable, rude, inexperienced? Would you recommend Dr. Ortiz to your friends? How about your children? How do you feel now? Are you losing weight? I would appreciate anything that you can tell me that will help me make as informed a decision as possible! Thanks! Amber
