  1. Karen, we are not even going to attempt to have insurance cover this because we are already certain that they won't. We do believe that our daughter is definitely mature enough to undergo this procedure and understands it well. We are hoping that the doctor will accept her for a summer banding as she goes to boarding school in PA and we want to make sure she is doing well with the band before going back to school in Sept. She turns 18 in Oct. Thank you for Hanna's email address! I will pass it along to my daughter.
  2. Karen, I'm so glad to see your post concerning your daughter. I have been looking for teens who have or want to get banded. I have a daughter who is also 17-1/2 and overweight. She appears to have the same BMI as your daughter, but is 5'10". She has been to weight loss camp for 6 summers which didn't help in the long run (but she had a great time!). She has her first appt with the local lap band clinic in two weeks and she is quite hopeful that this procedure will finally give her the true help she needs for long term success. She is a beautiful girl with a fabulous smile, but so unhappy over her size and inability to wear cute clothes and swimsuits. She has battled migraines, too, tho the worst of that seems to be past. We also hope that, if successful, she will be healthier all round and able to enjoy sports again. We would like to keep up with Hanna's recovery, attitude, and pros/cons to the procedure if that is OK. Maybe the girls can exchange email or IM addresses. Good luck to you both.
