  1. Can someone tell me what is suggested as a number of calories, and also how many grams of fat to have each day? I have stopped losing and I think it is because I am not getting in enough fat and calories per day for my body to burn the fat. Thanks for your input! Deby
  2. I have spoken with a couple of people, one of them a doctor, who had it done with only 50 or 60 pounds to lose. They did great, lost the weight, and it helps them to keep it off. Good luck to you if you decide to do it. Deby
  3. Your positive attitude is wonderful. I wish you the best of luck. Can you tell me why they cannot just take the band out and put the new one on, please. There is so little knowledge on the band long term. I am interested to know as much as possible. Do they know what causes band erosion? Thanks, and Blessings, Deby
  4. Lisa, I have only been banded for 3 and 1/2 months, but I just wish they had had this 20 years ago. I have never once wished that I had not done it. I have lost 45 pounds since August 8th and feel so much better. I researched long and hard, and knew that I would not do the by-pass for many of the reasons you mentioned. I am continually amazed at how well the band works. I had a few days of hurting some, but the meds did their job. Best of luck to you in your search and overcoming your battle. Deby
  5. Can you please share with me if any of you have had a leaking port? I was banded only 90 days ago and after a fill last week, my port is not holding a fill. They have verified that what went in is not coming out and think it is a slow leak around the port. Also, the surgeon made a comment about getting in before my next deductible is due. I have only had three fills and do not feel that this is something I should be paying for to have the port replaced. Have any of you had a similar experience that you can share with me? I would appreciate it. From what I understand, it is an easy surgery to replace it; that they just go in through the port incision. Thank you, Deby
  6. I am having surgery with Dr. Barker in August and would like to know if anyone has used him in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and if so, could you share your experience. He seems to be a very good doctor, but I am just doing my homework. Thank you, Deby
