  1. I have had my band for three years nows and so far i found one thing that really determines the relaxation of the band: HYDRATION. One really important thing is that helps is staying hydrated drink a lot of water really really helps. Hope it works
  2. The same thing happened to me and i recommend getting a slight unfill. Just the fluids sitting in your pouch can stretch it out and it can cause your band to slip. I wish you well.
  3. how did you go about doing the three weeks of liquids in front of your husband? if you ate at all during this time there could be a chance that the band slipped. if i were you i would go get an x ray to see the position of the band.
  4. i dont think that the american doctors can really say anything. this is your own life and they cannot say or do anything that would make you feel like you made a mistake. Dr. Ortiz is one of the best doctors and his staff is one of the most caring that i have ever met. i think that american doctors are just ignorant of the whole mexico situation and they think that everyone goes and gets the surgery done in some tent. this is the only problem but dont be scared because you know better.
  5. i was told no ab exercise for 6 months to allow the scar tissue around the port to soften even after the six months i sometimes had pain near my port after exercise
  6. i think that they do cath you during the surgery um they do put it in after you are out and take it out before you wake up. they do this so that the bladder does not interfere with the surgery
  7. I agree with Cassie! I was 15 when i had mine done. i was always depressed and i hated myself for letting myself get that big. I am so happy now. im more outgoing and its wonderful. Me and my mom researched everything. And the week before my surgery i think taht i went through the OCC website about a million times just because i was so nervous. Its hard im not going to lie but it was worth every bit of energy that i used to get to where i am today. GOOD LUCK Orr
  8. How?Do you swallow the tablet with water? if so how can you drink with all the pain
  9. i went through the same thing with my band until i got a bit of an unfill yesterday. For 8 months i have had the same fill and yet just the past couple months things started going crazy. in the morning nothing would go down at all not even liquids but by lunch time i was able to a bit. i was in constant pain and i was pbing about 10 time a week. i dont know why i didnt go sooner. When i went in for my upper GI the doctor kept telling me to swallow but i knew it would get stuck and i really didnt want to. did it anyways and the LIQUID just sat in my band for about 30 minutes until i could not take it much longer and i threw up. it sucked. now i only have 1cc in band and psychologically im still waiting for that stuck feeling to come on. even though it does at times it still is very different. I think its smart to go to your doctor and have things checked out because i waited until the last minute and my doctor said my band position looked flatter than usual with the tight fill
  10. I was banded june 23, 2005 so i have over a year under my "band" but at first i was like everyone else. i watched the clocked after every meal and waited exactly one hour before drinking. it really consumed my life at first. after about 4 or 5 month everything was like second nature. when going out to eat i dont even order a drink and i dont tempt my self with it. i usually go about my routine after my meal and i have become familiar with the feeling of my stomach being empty. after you can easily recognize that feeling you think you will figure everything out for yourself. hope this helps.
  11. wow it seems like a self service fill type of thing but not much info on it
  12. i recently read that oprah herself was going to get the lap band but in the last minute opted out of it but its not final i think that its awesome how the lapband is going to get the true attention that it deserves
  13. i try to avoid situations that can make me eat even though its a bday party you can still really stay away from all that food and ull realize soon enough you really dont want it
  14. trying chewing gum that really helps with the jaw tension at least it did for me just be careful not to swallow it
  15. congrates and hopefully everything will go well youll love it
