  1. I also have had my band for 3 years. I have had absolutely no problems at all with the band or the port. I do however know that I can feel it much better since the weight loss and if I mess with it too much it can get a bit sore but other than that, nothing. Get things checked out just to be safe. Good luck to you and I hope all is well with your band and your port.
  2. If its hard to imagine 1000cc's picture the bag of IV fluids you see hanging in the hospital or on TV, that is 1000cc/mls. That is quite a lot! Would sooo love to get that done myself.
  3. Thank you all so much! I will not freak out just yet. Im going to see how this last fill works out for me and take it from there. Thanks Again
  4. The band itself is not 10cc's, Its 10cm which would be the length of the band. The 10cm band only holds 4cc's of saline. I too was confused by that at first. I just wasnt looking at it right.
  5. It turns out I have a 10cm band that only holds 4cc's and now I am maxed out and topped off at 4cc's at this time. At 3.8cc's I had absolutely NO restriction at all. I feel some restriction at this time with the 4cc's in the band, but what will happen when I no longer have that restriction? Is this is it for me? Anyone have the same problem? Thanks, KatieB
  6. I too am 5'8 and Im 178 at this time. I never decided on a "goal weight" just a weight that I was comfortable with. I feel that I myself am not yet comfortable at this time, but thats a personal choice. Stop where you are happy and not where some chart tells you you should. Your ideal weight is whatever makes you happy !! Good luck to you !
  7. I have lost 68 pounds on this wonderful journey and Im still slowly losing.............not gaining at all...........I love my band and just wish I had done it sooner!
  8. Funny, I never feared waking up on the table mid surgery, It had never even crossed my mind. Then, it happened! I couldnt move my arms cuz they were strapped down but I could talk and I kept telling them it hurt and I was tapping my hand on the arm board to get thier attention. After that all I remember was being back in my private room resting comfortably.

  10. Hi, From central IL here. I too went to Mexico for my surgery.
  11. They give you dissolving Toradol(ketorolac). Its quite strange cuz they dont have Toradol that dissolves in the States. But the pain isnt really too bad but I guess everyone is different.
  12. I would love to wear low rider hipsters with a cute little t shirt tucked in or one that is just a little short to give a little peek at a flat belly. Someday!!!
  13. Ok, Its been 7 months since my last fill and I was begining to feel like maybe It was time for another fill, but then about 4-5 days ago I woke up and wasnt even able to drink a protein shake without that gurgling feeling. So now I can barely eat more than 3 small bites of anything! How in the world does the band just tighten up over nite one day? I mean, Im not really complaining, it saves me from having to spend any money on a fill and flight and I am starting to lose more weight again, so I guess its actually all good. But I still find it a little odd.
  14. Just dont put yourself in a situation where there could possibly be a problem. The hotel is more than safe and so is the clinic.
  15. One of the ER doctors I work with is also in the military and works for homeland security told me things are bad right now and to not go alone anywhere. I explained how we are escorted by OCC from the airport to the hotel. He suggests to stay at the hotel at this point in time due to increased violence against American tourists in Mexico. Just be sensible and dont go out alone.
  16. PB means "Pre Barfing" But i dont see anything PRE about it, I either vomit or i dont, there is nothing in between for me. LOL
  17. It took about a month for me to recieve my papers. I emailed Rene for them, he is the one that takes care of that. Spoke to him on the phone also after not recieving them for so long. But they did come eventually.
  18. Thanks for the info. I will definately look into that.
  19. Thanks for the tip about writing off the surgery cost on taxes, never even thought of it, that is so great. But I do have a question, If you financed the surgery you can only write off the amount that you have paid off this year, correct? Then next year the rest that gets paid can or cannot be claimed because the surgery was claimed the year prior? I hope that question isnt too confusing. Any response or input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  20. I have BCBSIL PPO, I think i will apeal. I knew going into this that there were stipulations to bariatric surgery, so im willing to do what i can to get more. I knew that i would not qualify here in the states so i took the chance and paid out of pocket. So anything i get back is a plus. I hope all works out for you and you get as much reimbursed as you can. Keep me informed.
  21. Hi All, well BCBS DID reimburse me $800!, I was wishing for so much more but i guess i cant complain. In order to get any more reimbursed to me i have to show documentation that i have been obese for the past 5 years and have been treated for this by my primary doctor, and also have a BMI of 35 with comorbidities, or a BMI of 40 without comorbidities. Either way it doesnt really matter, my BMI was only like 35 and no comorbidities. And, I never went to the doctor for my obesity, I just couldnt afford it at the time, being a fulltime student and having to pay out of pocket for all my visits for REAL issues and all. So, good luck to all who are hoping to be reimbursed, Im rooting for you!
  22. Hi Judy, I asked rene for my surgical report. I think that is what you are looking for. I too got the other info that you received along with the surgical report. Hope this helps.
  23. So far my insurance has reimbursed me $800, which Even that I never expected So im happy about that. Still gonna try for the rest. My only problem with my insurance (blue cross blue shield of IL) is that it has to be documented by my doctor my attempts and fails at dieting for the past two years. UGH! I dont recall going to my doctor for any diet stuff, but Im gonna see what I can do, Hey its worth a shot. Congrats on getting so much back. Good for you!!
  24. Hi All, I too woke up during surgery! Thought I was the only one. I was in so much pain when I woke up. I couldnt speak due to the oral airway in my mouth, so i started tapping on the bed to get their attention. It worked. Then when i pushed the oral airway to the side, all I could say was "It hurts, It hurts" they told me they were giving me some more medication and I do not remember anything after that. To think I even remember that amazes me. Glad to hear everything went well and you had a good experience in TJ.
