  1. Can anyone reading this respond? I want to know what the long term expense demands will be for me before going forward. I assume Dr. Ortiz includes all fills and follow ups in his price for one year (that seems to be the common practice cost wise). Whats to be expected the second year and every year thereafter? Will I have to continue to fill/unfill for the rest of my life, or will there come a time when I will forget the band is there and not have to visit any more doctors?? I suppose at least once a year to make sure everything is okay. This is the part I am in the dark about. Thanks in advance for any replies.

  4. By the way, how many fills did you have and did you return to TJ each time for a fill or someplace else?
  5. Wow Pam this was the answer I was waiting for. Although if I thought I was capable of loosing ten or more pounds prior to surgery I might not need the surgery . . . thanks.
  6. So did you fly back to TJ each time you needed a fill? Don't those costs add up a lot? How do you know when you need a fill?
  7. Hi all, This is my first post and it took a while before I was able to maneuver around this board, finally made it. Okay, I am at the surfing the internet phase and was hoping some of you might give me some friendly advice. I am not chronically overweight, I weigh 180 at 5'2" but like many have not been able to loose it for many years and I feel it in my knees. What I wish to know is this: do you honestly feel it is worth the permanent life style change with food and gas pains etc. for me to take off 50 pounds? How many follow up fills are involved and do you ever reach a point when no follow up is required? Looking forward to your response, thank you.
