I was banded 1yr ago the 25th. I have done really great i am at my goal 122 from 204. I have had some issues but nothing that I wouldn't do over in heart beat for the same results. At one time or another you will probably suffer from sever acid reflux it will wake you up during the night with you feeling like you are drowning you will start to cough and cough. You can prevent this by taking an acid reducer, not eating or drinking ANYTHING at least 2 hours before sleep, and you can elevate the head of your bed. This started as I reached my goal weight and my band was a little to tight. I don't want to scare you but this scared me as I had not heard of anyone having experienced this. I can not stress eating slow slow slow, I am a very fast eater, always have been and this is a huge issue especially after banding you will throw up!!!!!!!!!! Your body reacts before your brain engages that you have reached full. Your new stomach is about the size of an egg by the time you take 3bites you're full but you don't realize it as quickly so be aware and chew slowly this can be especially embarrassing if you are out at a restaurant and you become projectile (been there ). That has been the worst of my experiences. That and if you are married your husband may feel that EVERY illness stomach upset is band related. My husband is very sweet and supportive but after my banding and 50 birthday I had some unrelated medical issues come up just after banding and he has felt that it is all because of the band. He doesn't fully get that maybe I might be getting older and falling apart partly because I look so darn good now . Good luck to you it is amazing how much better you will feel about yourself.

I am at a loss to understand if what i am expericing is it band related, old age, or something else. About once a month I get horrible gas pains cramping etc every time I eat or drink ANYTHING it usually last about 2-3 days then I am fine for another couple of weeks. My poor husband is beside himself thinking everything is because of the band. I have reached my goal (122 from 204 ) and feel really good, other than these episodes every few weeks. I am at 2ml fill . I was having really sever acid reflux at 2.6 had an unfil now that has diminished but now this. Maybe I am still to tight. I cant eat much ever so I try to get nutrition thru the protein drinks etc. Anyone else having this and if so what did you do. It is awful.

Hi Octavia, I am 5'5" at my surgery I was 180 I had lost down from 188. My surgery was June 25th. Today I weigh 168 I go for my first fill 8-16-07 at this time I have NO restriction but I am really trying to keep from gaining anything (my daughter gets married in Sept. and I just turned 50) so I have a goal. The weight is slow to come off but it is staying off so far. The main thing now is you have to have x amount of calories or your metabolism slows to a crawl. have you had your surgery yet?

I am flying in to Tijuana on Thursday around 10:30 for a fill Thursday afternoon. If anyone out there wants to share a occ transportation. So far there are 2 of us sharing the more the merrier and cheaper.

Thanks Tom I'm kind of a control freak and planner so I start planning planning. I do plan to go back to OCC and want to get the best air fare rate. I will take easy though that seems to be the common message. Thanks again.

Jen I had my surgery Monday and I know what you mean why is stomach churning and growling. I thought I was the only one feeling this way. Actually the day after my stomach was growling. I don't want to mess up either I'm only day 4 omg (

I had surgery the 25th everything is GREATTTTTTTT. Everything went as expected no diappointments no surprizes. =D> My stomach growls 0r churns all the time though. Is that normal??? I just keep drinking some kind of liquid. Ok now on to my question do I schedule my fill appointment now or do I wait till I get cloaser to the 6wks and how do I know if I go 6 or 8 I would like my fill as soon as possible to get the process rolling.

I will be arriving Sunday early and was wondering if we were close to the beach. I live in North Texas and would really love to see the ocean while I am there if possible. Smell the air etc. Or should I stay close to the hotel this my first trip to Mexico in long time and I want to experience as much as I can in my short period of time .

I see alot of fills and then unfills on the posts why is this. Does anyone get a fill and not have go back and have it unfilled. It's all starting to sound very expensive since fill centers are going to chg for both procedures. How can I limit the amount of procedures or is it just a hit and miss gamble. I really am a novice I have my surgery on June 25TH and i so excited but I have sooooo many questions and reading the forum keeps adding to my question list. i feel really dumb that I am not more informed for such a major change to my life. I am the type that decides on something one day and acts on it as soon as possible.
