  1. Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in responding I have been busy travelling. The Friday after surgery we went of Florida on a family holiday. The surgery was a breeze and the only problems I have had are:- gas, which started annoying me about three days after surgery; and sensitivity around my port area. I am unable to sleep on my leftside and can actually feel the port area beneath my skin. I am using Mederma to try and fade the scaring. I am struggling with the initial post op diet and cannot wait for day 21 when eating can begin. Hunger resumed being my friend from post-op day 6. Regards, BFP
  2. Hello Pat, it was great to meet both you and your husband in person. I have only just returned home having travelled to Florida on the Friday after the surgery. Luckily we were fairly unaffected by the hurricane so my husband and kids enjoyed the week. I developed problems with gas about three days after surgery and although all the incisions have healed nicely I am unable to sleep on my left side. The port incision irritates me when I lay down to sleep so I have resorted to placing a pillow under that side. One of my friends also suggested that I rub Mederma on the scars to reduce the scaring effect on the skin. I am not coping well with the liquid diet and can't wait for day 21 to arrive.
  3. Hello everyone, I'm currently sitting in my hotel room at the Lucerna having had surgery yesterday afternoon. I am really excited to find this thread as my bmi at surgery was 30.9. Dr Miranda suggested that I should aim for a weight of 150lbs which means I have 57lbs to lose. Regards BFP
  4. Hello everyone, I have today sent off my deposit and booked my ticket for the 20th August 2006, hopefully Dr Ortiz will perform my surgery on Monday 21st August 2006. My bmi is low, barely 30, however I am nervous but excited as I believe that this procedure will put an end to the yo-yo dieting I have experienced for the last twenty years. I am a black, British Expat currently residing in Manhattan, New York. Because of familly committments (our two young children) my husband is unable to accompany me to Mexico so unfortunately I will be travelling and enduring this procedure alone unless anyone else is considering surgery on this date!!!! It would be great to receive any helpful information seasoned bandsters may have as well as any time estimates as to how long it will take to re-enter the US from the Mexician side of the boarder. This information will enable me to determine whether I need to change the time of my departing flight. I read one post that stated a period of three hours should be allowed for when crossing the boarder back to the US.
  5. Hello everyone, I am in the final stages of making my decision about having the lap band fitted, in fact by yesterday evening I had decided to go for it. Then I spoke to two very helpful people who both advised that after banding I would NEVER AGAIN be able to eat bread or french fries, never!!! Both these foods did not contribute to my weight problem, however, I am a rebellious soul and so once I'm told I cann't do/have something it becomes so important to me. I was hoping that I could still eat and drink everything (bread and french fries included) but just in much, much, much smaller portions. Any advice and personal experience welcomed.
