Hi, Soon2Bslim! I don't have exactly the same surgery date as you do, but I am being banded on Sept. 29th - so I'm sure I'll see you there. Are you coming with a companion or by yourself? I'll be by myself - I'm at the Lucerna right now but am considering switching, since it seems like more OCC bandsters will be at the Marriott - I haven't decided yet. Best of luck to you in your new life!

Hi, Sdalaq - we're being banded on the same date! Are you staying at the Marriott or Lucerna? How is everbody doing on their pre-op diets? I'm doing ok, I did not officially have to start until next week, but decided to start last week just to be safe. I'd down about 7 lbs so far (out of 12 they're asking me to lose) - so I can't complain!

Me too! I'm September 29.

I'll be at the Marriott, I was not really given a choice, but I am fine with it. I started my diet sept 1st, and lost 10 pounds. Its hard to stay on it, but I keep telling myself that this WILL be last diet.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to update on how my pre-op diet's going. Hmm..... :dash2: Hee-hee!

I started a week early (last week), and I've lost 6 of my 12 lbs. so far. I have to admit that I cheated a little over the labor day weekend. :negative:

I'm pretty on track for the rest of this week and next week as well. I've been losing around a pound or two a day, so if I was super strict, I know I would have lost 15+ by the end of the 3 weeks.

NEXT WEEK'S SURGERY!!!!!!! :girl_dance: I talked to Rene at OCC & he said I could possibly have my surgery on Thursday instead of Friday, so I'm weighing that option.

I'll continue to keep you all posted as my journey continues!

Questions for the veterans out there – is the feeling of having a strange body inside you ever leaving? Am I feeling the incision or am I feeling the port? I tried today to bend over and I just could not because of the pain. Is it the site of the port forever painful or I am just obsessing for the time being?

Looking forward to your answers,

Nina

Nina - I have little if any port pain. Right after my surgery, I will say that the port incision was by far the most tender. The one by my bra line didn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would.

For me, the times I notice my port the most is when I am bathing my son and lean into it, or when I lean to the side just right. I feel it. Not a pain, just aware it is there. I am a beginner, so I still have a lot of pad to cushion the port. My son, Daniel, will "try" and use me as his personal jungle gym. (which I do not let him do.) I don't want him stepping on my port area and pulling it. I don't want to pop my stitched or tilt my port.

I don't think the "strange body" feeling will leave us, because we do have a foreign object in our bodies. However I do think be coexist well and get use to it. You are a new bandster, give your body some time to heal and get use to the port. The more time that goes by, odds are the better you will feel about it.

I start the pre-op diet today for my September 25 surgery. I'M STARTING TO FREAK OUT! "IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO?" "I'M NOT THAT FAT, AM I?"

I'm 220 and guys still hit on me. But I'm not happy with it. (I'm writing out my thoughts here.) But it's scary to have surgery and have something IN ME forever. What if I fail????

You are right 220 is not THAT fat....I am 250 and down nearly 30 lbs from where I began. If I would not have had this health saving surgery in April, I wonder what weight I would be now......I was 278.9 when I scheduled my surgery. Hmm....I am blessed to not have to worry about hitting the 300's and making it some how okay.

Magkai1 you are not the first bandster to freak out or question what they are doing. It's okay, you have come this far for a reason. Taking control of your health and eating now is a good thing. Personally I have issues with food. That is what got me to the point I am at now. Being banded has changed some of my foodie issues, but I STILL have demons I am battling. If you look at my food log for the past 3 days I have been on a bad run. That being said, the food I have consumed in the past 3 days does not do justice to how I use to eat food.

Oh, and IMHO, you will have guys hit on you no matter how heavy/skinny you are. It takes all kinds to make the world go around. Some men are attracted to heavy women, some skinny.

Maybe you can take a few moments and write down why you wanted this surgery to begin with, and why you are having second thoughts now. It may make your view a bit clearer on what you are doing and why you are doing it.

My "freak" out moment was getting packed so I was ready to go. When I started to feel anxious I called a fellow banster and talked to her. By the end of the call I was packed and calm. :D

By the way, I am thankful to have a foreign body in my body. I am grateful!

A week away from surgery and doing....okay, on my pre-op diet. Emotionally, I'm feeling kinda like I have to hoard! Almost like I'm going to be locked away & preparing for it! It's weird! I feel like I have to get that last buffet in before surgery!! There is this AMAZING seafood buffet at the Indian casino near me. All-you-can-eat LOBSTER, king crab legs, shrimp...a bunch of stuff including meats and other foods. Desserts too! I feel like I need to get one last trip in before I get banded and spend the next 21 days after that on liquids & forever after that only eating limited food.

eek! It's so hard!!!! I'm motivated, but feel like I'm being left out of the party! :(

One good thing is you will be able to enjoy all of those after your 21 day diet too. Yay! 1 week away! Whoop! Whoop! Your party is already started! You are getting a band! Wooo

Hey There!

I am new to the forum, although I have been reading and searching it for quite some time now. I am scheduled for surgery on September the 15th, a bit scared about going to Mexico and about having the surgery. I just know that I need to take a drastic measure to get this weight problem under control. I have some amazing things happening in my career that could potentially put me more in the public eye and I don't want to be hiding from the world because of my weight problem

If it weren't for all of the great information on this forum I would probably still be contemplating have this procedure. I appreciate all of the advice and comments that everyone has taken the time to post. Wish me luck on my journey :D-_-

Thank you Angie - it is getting better. I am just wondering when the "padding" is gone will we be able to actual see the port under the skin? I know I am a big baby with this, but cannot help it.
