As far as I know you should go in for a slight unfill. It can damage your band to be too tight.

totally agree - you should not have reflux..and you can get into real physical trouble with that...please take care of it immediately.

here are some good tips to help until you can get a bit of an unfill:

do not eat 3 hours before bed time (or laying down)

raise the head of your bed

drink some water about an hour before bedtime to help rinse the pouch if possible.

Reduce salt intake

those will help - sometimes it's just your body being bloated - but if it continues you should take action.

Where did you get your surgery

I remembe reading in this forum, that acid reflex is very common with the plication. That's one of the one real negative side effects.

Did you try doing a search in the forum?

You'll find tons of info on it, as it's been discussed many times.

Also, for a quick and more direct route, I would contact the OCC immediately.

You can email Lori, as she's very quick to reply and will forward your question(s).

IMHO, that's the best route, rather than getting responses in here, which can/or can not be helpful!

Plication surgery was actually 'invented' as a solution to acid reflux, then they noticed that the patients lost weight. The acid reflux fix didn't work quite as well. In fact, my doctor told me to expect more acid the first few months but it should get better after that. I had to continue taking my PPI after surgery (6 weeks out) but that has more than controlled the acid, and it didn't before surgery.
