Does anyone know how soon after the surgery most people are able to start exercising? Especially ab exercises? Also does the lap band doesn't get in the way (like feeling it inside of you) when you are physically active right?

I was told no ab work for three months after surgery. I also had to have a hiatal hernia fixed at the time Dr. O put my band in so I do not know if that matters or not. My paperwork says no strenous exercise for 3 weeks after surgery.

I have not felt my band at all, ok, well other than when I eat. But otherwise I just feel "normal" no physical feeling at all. I can think of only one time when I tried to sleep on my stomach that I felt my port..

i was told no ab exercise for 6 months to allow the scar tissue around the port to soften even after the six months i sometimes had pain near my port after exercise

Dr. Ortiz told me I could exercise 10 days after surgery, but no abs for three months. I am four months post op now, and I started ab work on my 3 month anniversary. I have felt fine. No pain, nothing like that.
