Trip to TJ -- language & currency questions

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled with Dr. Ortiz on October 4 for my lap band surgery. I am wondering if I need to brush up on my Spanish and.....I am wondering about currency. Can we use U.S. currency for shopping, etc.....or do we need to exchange U.S. currency for Mexico currency (pesos????)

Many thanks! Kim H.

Ortiz's staff is fluent in English, there is no language barrier there, there area fewnurses at thehospital who are notfluent in English, but if you know the basics you can get by. They know the basics also.

I do not think there is no need ot convert your money to pesos. American money spends just as easily there as pesos. That is a personal choice. I was just there yesterday getting a fill and shopping andI used American money.

Hi Kim. During the day you will see Drs. Martinez & Ortiz a lot, and of course they speak flawless English. During the night there is always a doctor on call at the hospital who speaks english. As Michelle said, some of the nurses aren't all that great at speaking english, but they know the basics. In the office where you will go for pre-testing & afterwards for fills, they all speak English. . EVERYONE in TJ takes dollars!
