April 6th banding

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I noticed that no one has been very active on the boards lately. How is everyone doing on this journey. I would love to hear your stories and if anyone is willing to be a "penpal" for me. I would really like to have someone to ask questions to and about where to get certiain items. I live in Mesa. My surgery is April 6th. Please let me know if you would be willing to be my mentor.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Michele,

I'm in Gold Canyon. Almost neighbors. I'm on the boards almost everyday. Feel free to PM me if you'd like and I might be able to help.

Hello!

My name is Connie and I am scheduled for surgery on April 23. I am scared to death so I am anxious to talk to anyone and everyone out there who is going on this same journey. And I'm from Arizona too, Kingman! Michele, I will keep you in my prayers tomorrow....

Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz on Feb. 9th and I was up shopping in the Revolution District or maybe it was just a street named Revolution the next day. The whole experience was great. I didn't suffer any of the gas pains that you hear about and that might have something to do with me walking so much the next day. The pain is minimal and you are given some pain meds. My surgery was on a Friday and I was back at work the following Monday. However, I do have a desk job.

You will really like the whole staff at the clinic. Everyone is super friendly and make you feel right at home. No bad experiences to even discuss. Oh, your guest will not be able to stay the night with you at the clinic. They are escorted back to the hotel and then you will meet up with them the next day. I didn't realize that and was a little bit bummed when my sister didn't get to stay with me. However, there is a flat screen t.v. in your room with digital cable.

I haven't had my first fill yet but I am down 20 pounds so far. I am going to get my first fill in Dallas Texas because the airfare is too expensive to San Diego right now.

I am sure that you will have a good experience so just go with the flow and don't get to worried or scared.

Good luck!

Ok guys, I just have to tell you my little story about shopping on Revolution Avenue. My husband was with me and he is a big Harley Davidson guy and was of course wearing a Harley shirt, so anyways, one of the vendors says come on in, I have Harley shirts for you, you buy from me, come in I show you, so we follow him into his small shop where as he said, he had some Harley shirts for sale. Then he shows me a leather Harley Davidson backpack, of course the price started at $40 so I immediately said no, well eventually we got down to $15 so I caved and bought the backpack.

So, the next morning my husband and I are at the hotel getting ready to leave when my husband says, "wow, have you seen all the pockets in this backpack?" He sticks his hand in one of the front pockets and says, "what is this?" and precedes to turn the pocket inside out and stuck in the leather is remnants of what looked to be marijuana!!! Needless to say, we looked like a comedy act trying to rid the pocket of anything that would even resemble what was in there. We did get it all out, which like I said, was really nothing, but enough to scare the jeepers out of us. We have decided we will not be buying anything on our next trip, that was enough stress to last a lifetime. Something like that could only happen to us! UGH! We laugh about it now when we tell our friends. LOL But I do have to say, there wasnothing funny about it at the time. Besides that, the experience was great and we bought some really great things and brought back lots of goodies for the kids. It was such a good time and the walking helped with gas pains in the shoulders too.

I am banded!!! April 6th was the day. We drove home to Arizona on the 7th and I had to make it through 4 hours of a family gathering (my brother's birthday) while they ate fruit, chips and lemon cake, yesterday.

I loved Dr. Ortiz and his staff, and really the women I met while there were amazing. Everyone was so supportive and friendly. "Hi!" April 5th and 6th bandsters.

That is so awesome Michele! Congrats! Sorry you had to suffer through the birthday celebration, but hopefully you weren't hungry. Wow! That's amazing they let you go home so fast.

Did you arrive the day or night before and had tests and surgery on the 6th? Or, did you have everything done the same day? Just wondering because I am waiting to hear from Lori to schedule for a Friday May18th, or Monday May 21st.

Best wishes and Good Luck on your band journey! :)

Judy
